Wonder if that play made his mind up to retire...LOL

I actually liked him as a first baseman, he was a fundamentally sound ball player. The kind of player you recommend your kids to watch and learn from.

Glad my Orioles are in it. Thought for sure we were winning the world series in the first half of the season. Now i am hoping for a playoff spot.

I would shout out for the Rangers but seems like every time I watch they lose. Sure makes it tough to watch. lol

They've been a really fun team to watch this year.  They have some pitching inconsistencies now and then but when they're on, they're really tough to beat.  I just hope they hit a hot streak when the playoffs start.

The Boston Red Sox finished out a four-game SWEEP of the New York Yankees at Fenway Park tonight.

Coming from behind to win all for games.

Good Times.

I was a half hour north of Cooperstown the past couple of days and the local sports talking heads were blaming Girardi of mismanaging his bull pen against the Sox. Basically saying that he has an expanded roster and he doesn't trust anyone but Bettances (sp).

Do the talking heads know that the Yankee brass traded away 2 all-stars from the bull pen?

I couldn't help but laugh, I thought the sports talking heads here were tough, but sheeese!?!?!

For a week or so people thought the Yankees could mount a comeback with nothing but rookies. HA! They are good but not that good.

Redsox are playing just like they did in 2013 heading into the postseason. I'm counting on the wild card teams to tire each other out and chip away the blue jays and orioles chances.

I knew the Sox would finish strong. All it took was for David Price to turn things around. Hanley has been absolutely tearing the cover off the ball, and he has quietly put together a fantastic season. He would get some MVP votes if the Sox lineup didn't already contain Ortiz, Betts, Bogaerts and JBJ. What a dynamic offense that lineup is. They aren't 1-dimensional like other great offensive teams (Toronto, Baltimore). The sox have a potent combination of speed, average, power, youth and vets.

How about Sanchez, the rookie from NY? Already at 19 home runs! I know he has only played like  40 games but it's going to be really hard to vote against him for ROY. I think if the Yankess secured a wild-card spot, the would lock in Sanchez for ROY.

Steroids, cough, cough

Remember when someone thought Hanley should play left? What happens to the kung pow panda when he gets healthy? I hope the Sox eat the contract.

As a life long member of Red Sox nation, it doesn't hurt my feeling any seeing the NY team(s) not in 1st place, but there's no need to go there, at least blindly.

Sanchez has saved what little remained of their "season" for them & their fans.  He's on a roll. But MLB WILL ADJUST, they always do.

His job will be to adjust with them.  The Best Can & Do, the rest struggle in mediocrity.

And as far as roids, nobody is innocent anymore. I think papi is probably riding now, but I also think every team has a handful of guys like that. It is what it is at this point. I also believe that there was a group of guys in the 70s doing it as well, but it's so far back it gets ignored.

Ortiz never roided. Just bitamins and supploments and if I remember correctly Lasik eye surgery. That or a different contacts prescription. I remember watching games where he used eye drops before every at bat a few years back. That's when he started to turn it around.

Imagine if the Yanks played him for the full year?!?! There would have been 4th team in contention for the division and I bet they would not have been sellers at the trade deadline.

Your Braves been making noise lately! What are they up to, like a 6 game winning streak and taking 3 from the Mets? They needed to finish strong.

Yeah the Braves have been playing great! I love that they're trying to play spoiler now. Not as good as making the playoffs, but if we can stifle the Mets' playoff hopes I'll be content considering we're in rebuild mode.

That's according to Ortiz.

He was found out to have failed a drug test in 2003, shortly after the time Bonds started clubbing home runs off this planet every at bat and as well as Sosa, A-Rod and all the other early early-2000s known steroid users were playing out of their mind.

He tested positive for a banned substance no matter which way you look at, but there is always a chance that the results were wrong. I never buy the silly "I never knowingly took steroids" argument. Not saying Ortiz used this, but thats usually where players take it when they fail a test.

I am not saying he is definitely guilty, but I am an absolute purist when it comes to baseball. I like it squeaky clean, and unfortunately for a lot of former and current players, "suspicion of PED use" is enough for me to want them kept out of the HOF. Any failed drug test that doesn't fall into the "known user" category, falls into the "suspicion of use" category.

Don't get me wrong, what Ortiz is doing in his age 40 or whatever old age season he is in, is amazing. Last year he had a great season as well, and one would have to assume he is clean now.

Nowadays, most players who test positive are no-names who are trying to make it, not stars who already have. Not always this case, with players like Braun, Melky, and Chris Davis (dude just needs his Adderall).

Ortiz may very well be clean and well never know for sure. It definitely seems like Ortiz has gotten a free pass that NOBODY else gets when it comes to alleged PED use. Maybe its because he never fell off when he was exposed.

I'm not hating on Big Sesame, just giving my $0.02. Like I said, what he has been doing in his late 30s and early 40s is pretty ridiculous.

Just like the patriots "cheating" scandals, I have no idea what you're talking about. Next question please.
