Even beating on a garbage can won’t help you make that play that Houston’s 1B just made. Doggone it that would have been huge for the Phillies if that got by

Sheesh! High drama there. Houston made two crazy good defensive plays to win that one, gotta hand it to them unfortunately

Philly needed the ghost of bill Buckner to make a play on that ball in the 7th

Come September, the bottom of the standings will look like this:

How will the Red Sox alter their roster in response to a last-place finish? Here's what the precedent says - The Boston Globe

And JD will hit 79 bombs on the left coast to break the record !

And Devers will be traded at the deadline b/c they "can't afford" him. Insert Bobby Dalbec as your 3rd base comp. Does JBJ and Hunter Renfroe come to mind?

The Correa-Mets deal fell through due to something they found on his physical. He just signed with Minnesota. Classic Mets! As a Braves fan it makes me smile.

Braves off to a good start. Strider picking up right where he left off last year.

Thanks for bumping this thread, I was just thinking about it while watching the game.

Olson is on STRAIGHT FIRE!   He came out of Spring training with the most HRs IIrc.   Ozuna even hit a bomb lol.

I'm still sick over Dansby, much more than Freddie.  He was a true professional leader above all else, hopefully either Riley or Olson can fill those leadership footsteps.

Strider is just must watch TV as a baseball fan.   I'm not sure how long his career will last, but man he's electric.

I said I was done with the Braves after Dansby, here I am like an addict with my hand out ?

Doesn't feel right without Dansby in the infield. Man was I wrong about him back in the day. The Braves traded Shelby Miller after a career year to Arizona for Dansby, the exciting #1 overall pick. I was sure this would come back to bite the Braves, but instead Miller's career immediately fizzled in Arizona while Dansby makes the final out for the Braves in the World Series in '21. I'm a bad armchair GM haha.

Hopefully Fried returns soon, and Soroka gets back as well.

I think everybody including myself was wrong on Dansby the first several years.   Ultimately he grew in to one of the best leaders in MLB, easily one of the best gloves in MLB, and finally became a .275+ hitter.    He was always clutch even during the bad years, but he put it all together last year.   I hope he proves the Braves wrong, but I'm 50/50.

Not sure if Yates is ever going to recover fully, he should be gtg by now.

ETA:  How about that WBC......broke my heart when they lost, but man what an overall fantastic tourney.    I was already a Trea Turner fan, but wow is he a dynamite player.   5 tool player that looks like the average athletic joe.

I love the WBC. Really cool seeing Ohtani strike out Trout to win it for Japan. And any team that has Trea Turner on the roster is a lucky team! Too bad he’s still wearing the wrong NL East jersey.

Driving down to Citi field at the end of this month to see the Braves play the Mets. My girlfriend got me tickets for my birthday. Haven’t been to a big league game in several years. Gonna show up head to toe in Atlanta gear ?

Man that's sounds like an absolute blast!  Now I get to be extra excited for a game as well.....I always love it when my friends are at games I'm watching.   It's only about 2hrs to go see them from here.

I'd love to see them play at every ballpark in the country.   No other sport can compare to MLB parks imho.

I get to see them on Friday, Lord-willing, when the Padres come to town. Should be an excellent matchup.

Arcia has been doing well at SS so far. And the organization has tons of depth to cover defensively (heck we even brought Charlie Culberson back on a minor league deal to back up Grissom and the other prospect should it be needed).

I know Dansby’s offense is fickle enough to make him a gaping hole in the lineup for months on end. Last season was an exception to that trend. Drove his market price too high given the risk.

Agree to disagree on Dansby.   But time will tell the real story on him.   The soul less corporate owners in CO better hope he doesn't hit .275 with 25hr/100 rbi though.

My all time favorite Braves play.....Charlie Clutch is my favorite Brave.

Been thinking about that play, lately. That 2019 team was the most fun I have ever had watching a sport, even though they went out with a whimper in the NLDS.

Seeing Riley come up as a rookie and mash 19 dingers was electric. That comeback against the Indians. Josh Donaldson was always dangerous. And Freddie walking off Josh Hader in the 10th. Always drama.

Great summary and I agree.    I love JD, he's a hate or love type character.  He was a fantastic glove and could really catch fire at the plate.

That's why you love baseball.   The mark of a great team is one that usually comes right back the next inning.

Thrilling home opener.    Braves got a good thing going right now.   Imagine facing that lineup, good luck.

Seems like that’s been the way the Braves’ have been doing it the last few years. They’re looking very impressive to start the season even with the couple hopefully minor injuries. Offense is really clicking, but also they’re walking a lot! Not something the Braves have been good at recently so that’s great to see. Only thing scarier than a lineup that could take you deep 1-9 is a lineup that can take you deep 1-9 but also has a good eye.

Snitker is a hell of a manager. And I’m so thankful to not have Fredi Gonzalez at the helm anymore. That was the worse time to be a Braves fan. He may be the worst manager to ever put on a uniform. Ted Lasso knows more about soccer than Gonzalez knew about baseball.
