NavyToad Posted August 8, 2023 Posted August 8, 2023 Tampa Bay pitcher McClanahan “highly unlikely” to pitch again in ‘23. Bad news for the Rays, good news for the rest of the AL East. https://www.espn.com/mlb/story/_/id/38157854/shane-mcclanahan-highly-unlikely-pitch-again-2023-kevin-cash-says Quote
BassResource.com Administrator Glenn Posted August 10, 2023 Author BassResource.com Administrator Posted August 10, 2023 Don't look now, but the Mariners are on FIRE! They've won 7 in a row, 6 consecutive series wins, 9 of 11, 15 of 19, and 10 games beyond 500, all the while making it look EASY! Yes, they still have some work ahead of them, but they're kicking on the afterburners at the right time! 3 Quote
throttleplate Posted August 10, 2023 Posted August 10, 2023 Me after the O"s lose to the Astros on tues night on a grand slam 9th inning off of Bautista. Me on thurs afternoon after the O"s win after a shakey relief appearance by Baustista with bases loaded flyball out. 1 1 Quote

throttleplate Posted August 13, 2023 Posted August 13, 2023 O's top Seattle 1-0 in 10 Cedric Mullins steals third base in the top of the 10th inning, so the Orioles have three outs to get a run home. Ryan Mountcastle does it. The Orioles take a 1-0 lead in the 10th off a sharp single. Félix Bautista closes out a 1-0 Orioles victory in extra innings. 2 Quote
Super User Jar11591 Posted August 13, 2023 Super User Posted August 13, 2023 Went to Citi Field to see the Braves stomp the Mets today. Couldn’t have imagined the scoreboard was gonna say 21-3 when it was all said and done. Complete domination. Got to see the Braves go deep 6 times. They scored 8 runs in the ninth. It was like batting practice on those lowly Mets. Was happy to see a lot of other Atlanta fans at the stadium, including an entire section doing the Tomahawk Chop. What a fun game to be at! Gotta give it to the Mets about their stadium though. Citi Field was a really nice venue. I don’t think a nice stadium will console Mets fans after that thumpin’ though. 3 Quote
Super User BrianMDTX Posted August 13, 2023 Super User Posted August 13, 2023 Bautista was back to his dominant self. Orioles starters getting it done again. Although what a waste of a complete game shut-out by Kirby. I feel for the guy. 2 Quote
throttleplate Posted August 13, 2023 Posted August 13, 2023 i watched the game and Kirby was amazing which left me wondering if our rookie pitcher Rodrigeuz will ever turn out to be a Kirby. Our pitchers usually get in trouble in the 6th inning and in comes the bullpen. Quote
Super User BrianMDTX Posted August 13, 2023 Super User Posted August 13, 2023 I’ll take a quality start for six innings any day of the week. So far, it’s working! 2 Quote

Super User Jar11591 Posted August 13, 2023 Super User Posted August 13, 2023 @AlabamaSpothunter definitely the most fun game I’ve been to. Originally Strider was slated for the early start but he got moved to the later game. I was bummed about that but I forgot about it real quick when the Braves started batting around and the rookie Winans was mowing the Mets down ? 1 Quote

Nicky Lopez being a superstar and Wall getting his first MLB hit were highlights as well. You got a bit of everything. 1 Quote

throttleplate Posted August 14, 2023 Posted August 14, 2023 Mullins with heroics, Fujinami with a save and O's pull out another thriller in Seattle. Cedric Mullins can steal the long ball as well as hit them. He goes yard for a two-run homer, putting the Orioles ahead, 5-3, in the 10th. Cedric Mullins didn’t feel the ball nestle into his glove initially. He realized he caught it once he was on the ground. 1 Quote
Super User BrianMDTX Posted August 14, 2023 Super User Posted August 14, 2023 Kevin Brown said it best. “Cedric Mullins SAVES a home run! Cedric Mullins HITS a home run!” What an end to that game! On to San Diego! 2 Quote
BassResource.com Administrator Glenn Posted August 23, 2023 Author BassResource.com Administrator Posted August 23, 2023 I'll just leave this right here: Mariners have won the last 25 of 30 Won 8 games in a row Are 1 game back from the division leader. 1 Quote

NavyToad Posted August 25, 2023 Posted August 25, 2023 @throttleplate Our pitching has been a surprise to me. No Cy Young contenders, but they’re getting it done. 1 Quote

We got Coloumbe back yesterday so thats great. 1 Quote
Super User BrianMDTX Posted August 26, 2023 Super User Posted August 26, 2023 Speaking of Coloumbe, he gets a one pitch, one strike save. Sounds like a reason to jump and down and shout “Yay!” But he came in due to Bautista exiting with an unknown injury that appeared to possibly be his knee or hip, but Hyde said it’s arm discomfort. That last pitch was very awkward. I hope Felix is ok. However, what a nice come from behind win. Rays lose. Jays lose. Red Sox lose. Yankees won (beat the Rays lol). Nice, but overshadowed by what’s going on with Bautista. 1 1 Quote
Super User BrianMDTX Posted August 26, 2023 Super User Posted August 26, 2023 Normally I’d ? at that. But not today! Hopefully it’s not serious. All I know is that they wasted zero time in taking him out of the game with two strikes and two outs. No warm-up pitch. Just out. 2 Quote
