That walk off HR by Albies was an absolute missile. Braves still leading the East, the Mets are fading fast and doing Met stuff, and all is right with the world. It's amazing how the Met's are such whipping boys for the Braves.  The last three games were about as bad as it can get for a Met's fan.   THROW IT AGAIN LOSERS ? 1 Quote

The yankees, arizona and the orioles. Yankees made the WS after he left, same with Arizona a year after he left and with the orioles he lost in the playoffs to the yankees and royals.  1 Quote

He'll be like Dusty Baker, he'll run into a ring simply by being in the position long enough I'd imagine.  Taking the job at the Mets was a poor move if he wants a ring though ? 1 Quote
throttleplate Posted June 10, 2023 Posted June 10, 2023 Henderson produced his first career three-hit game, Tyler Wells was charged with two runs in 6 2/3 innings, and the Orioles began their homestand with a 3-2 victory over the Royals. Â Â 1 Quote

Twins have pitching and the homerun ball Sox have hitting and maybe a slight edge in closer  What do you think?  Quote

It’s possible that the winner may not even be over .500 by seasons end.  Sox would easily win that division if they were in it. These things often go in cycles though. Doesn’t help that both the Rays and Orioles are solid this season. 1 Quote
throttleplate Posted June 11, 2023 Posted June 11, 2023 The Orioles sent left-hander Cole Irvin to the mound today. He would have a chance to pitch his team to a win and perhaps to pitch himself back into the starting five in the rotation. Irvin allowed one run over 5 1/3 innings after entering with an ERA of 10.38, as the Orioles beat Kansas City 6-1. Baltimore improves to 40-24 on the year. “Played great defensively," Hyde said. "(Aaron) Hicksie, Santander in right field made some really nice plays. We’ve been playing pretty good defense as of late. Cole was pitching to contact and we played good defense behind him."  1 Quote

With Fried, and Wright healthy, they're in the top 3 odds wise to win the WS.   As it stands today though I can't say that in good conscience.  They're a good team right now, but not great imho.    Quote

Tampa in the AL had the hot start but came back to earth.  Baseball is funny, ATL is riding high right now after 5 straight come from behind wins.  Credit where credit is due, but those games could have easily gone the other way.  Their schedule against good teams thus far isn't great, isn't terrible.  They lost 2/3 to the worst team in MLB a week or two back.  I'm a Braves guy, but to me they aren't healthy and firing on all cylinders.  The Dodgers are better right now in the NL imho.  Acuna is the best player in baseball this year by a huge margin.   I'm at the point to where I just enjoy the games until about August, when teams finally show there finally form.  The Braves from 21, the Philles last year, the Nats in 19.  Doesn't matter how good or bad you are right now as long as you make the post season.  The best team changes at least monthly if not weekly in many divisions including the NL East.   All I know is the Braves have had some really exciting wins lately, and that's the real reason why I love the Braves and baseball. It's a commitment, you spend hours hoping for a payoff.  It's like big Bass fishing.  3 Quote

throttleplate Posted June 11, 2023 Posted June 11, 2023 O"s sweep the royals. The Orioles used another variation of their lineup, sitting some regulars and toying again with the order. Their methods keep working. Josh Lester started at first base and broke a tie in the third with a two-run single, Gunnar Henderson hit a 462-foot three-run homer and came within a triple of the cycle, Ryan O’Hearn homered and reached base five times for the only time in his career, and the Orioles defeated Kansas City 11-3. Henderson pushed the lead to 10-3 in the seventh with the longest Eutaw Street homer in the ballpark's history, on a Jackson Kowar slider, The exit velocity was 113.8 mph, and Henderson stood at the plate with bat in hand and watched its flight until it hit the warehouse on one bounce. The kid is worth watching. Henderson has strung together three consecutive multi-hit games and is 10-for-19 in his last five. His average is up to .236 and his OPS to .804. Kyle Gibson allowed three runs and seven hits in 6 1/3 innings for his seventh quality start. He didn’t walk a batter and struck out four.        Quote
throttleplate Posted June 11, 2023 Posted June 11, 2023 Gunnar Henderson's 462-foot Eutaw Street homer, which hit the street then hit the warehouse, is the longest homer to reach Eutaw Street in the history of Camden Yards. Gunnar Henderson: "It's really special. This ballpark is really historic, and it's really gonna be a great memory for me and I'm really gonna look forward to seeing it [the plaque] out there." Aron Hicks is filling in great so far for an injured Mullins.  Here are the Orioles rookies in the minors and their ranking amoung all minor leaguers according to Baseball America.  #2 Jackson Holliday, #16 Colton Cowser, #17 Grayson Rodriguez, #46 Jordan Westburg, #75 Joey Ortiz, #80 DL Hall, #81 Samuel Basallo, #84 Heston Kjerstad. throttleplate Posted June 14, 2023 Posted June 14, 2023 O"s win, The roster keeps changing and unheralded players are thrust into larger roles and they keep winning. Adam Frazier and Ryan O’Hearn hit two-run homers off Chris Bassitt, followed by Gunnar Henderson’s grand slam, and the Orioles ran their winning streak to five games with an 11-6 victory over the Blue Jays at Camden Yards. Aaron Hicks nailed the right field foul pole against reliever Bowden Francis in the fourth, and the Orioles improved to 42-24, moving 18 games above .500 for the first time since July 25, 2016.  2 1 Quote
