That surprised me.

I don't think his contract is very big and his stock is very high so it caught me off guard but not surprised, if that makes sense.

Verlander and Avila's name came up, any truth to those rumors @12poundbass?

Well we're at the halfway point and it's been an interesting season so far. The surprises to me so far have been the:

Rays - Never thought their pitching would hold up and they seem to always get that clutch hit

Twins - Second place despite the fact they have a negative runs differential

Astros - I knew they were talented, but 60 wins by the all star break...are you kidding me? BTW, check out their road record?

Braves - Seriously, did you think they'd be around .500 by the all star break? I figured they'd be just ahead of Philly

Brew Crew - Sorry, I didn't see this coming. Let's hope they can keep it up. It's always good to see new teams contending.

Cubs - I knew there would be a World Series hang over, but I thought they'd still be over .500 by the break. Only 5.5 gms back, still time to turn it on.

D-Backs and Rockies - By far the biggest surprise teams to me. Too bad they play in the same division as the Dodgers.

Giants - What happened?

So, who's teams are buying and selling?

My team would probably be sellers, but they don't have any players that anybody else would want to have!

The Cubs have expressed interest in Verlander recently. I haven't heard of anyone else. He has a big contract and I believe extends quite far into the future.

Avila, meh, unless it's his father getting traded then great! After the J.D. trade last night he can hit the road. Three S.S.? All prospects, one was their number 4 prospect (big deal j/k), the other 2 who knows? Like always who gives a bleep about the bullpen, their good enough.

Verlander controls his own future. Per his contract he can deny any trade, so we'll see. Over the years we've seen one of the best running back (Barry Sanders) and widreceivers (Calvin Johnson) retire early because they're stuck with a scrappy team their entire career. Verlander has been to a couple World Series, should have been way more and at least one championship. I would be surprised if he leaves and I can't say I'd blame him. It would be a bummer because he's been here his entire career and his little brother is in the Tigers organization but it's business.

Rant over.  Lol

You don't think anyone would take Billy Hamilton in a heart beat? :)

Well, not for what the Reds would ask, there's a little young talent that they simply won't trade.

Usually there's some veteran players to be traded on these bad teams, but the Reds don't have much there. Zach Cozart might get traded, but he has had a little lingering quad injury that makes me wonder if he'll be traded. Scott Feldman's name was out there too, but he just went on the 10 DL for a knee injury.

I'd like to see some moves made, but I don't think much will be happening, we'll see though.

Is Devers playing great or what? He jumps from AA and goes bridge on a 103 mph Chapman pitch the other way. He's only 1 of 2 left handed batters to do that against Chapman. :)

Another wild one at Fenway tonight.

And that one might leave a mark.

Orioles are fighting for that second Wild Card spot and finally started playing decent again.. What a CRAZY game last night though. Seemed like Homerun derby for both teams. Then Manny Machado ends it with a walk off grand slam.

Doug Fister twirls a gem. 3 pitches into the game and he lets up a home run. No hits for the remainder of the game. I didn't see that coming. :)

Now if Farrell didn't blow lunch the previous game....

Yup - Hope Farrell gets all his brain cramps out in the regular season.

Can't afford any in the post season.

Nice win last night. I have a ton of respect for Kluber and really enjoy watching him pitch, but his decision to plunk Nunez late in the game kind of did him in. It will surely add to the drama if the Sox and Indians meet in October. :)

Seemed like the Saux may have gotten in his head a little bit ~

Fister & Pomerantz have come up big recently - still need one more pitcher & HOPR JBJ can come back strong we need his D & that Bat in the 9 hole ~ REALLY lengthens that line up.

Can't agree more about JBJ @A-Jay, I do like the trade they made last night but I'm curious as to why Chris Young didn't start. I like the Brockstar, but would rather see Young in LF and using Holt as an infield utility player. I think Devers could use a break as he's turned a bit cold? :)

@Jigfishn10 ~ Yes Sir.    Mr Young has been a little cool at the plate although he has been doing a lot of pinch running, not exactly a speed demon ~ but he's better than using a pitcher ! (thank you JF) Holt seems to be getting back to the Brockstar we all know & love - he's clutch, and Dever's needs to easy up on the 'going for the downs' on every swing mantra - K's are too frequent but he's getting his knocks still.  He went 1st to 3rd late last night which was big.  Looking forward to a Sale Day today.

@A-Jay, always a good Sale Day in Red Sox Nation. He got knocked around a bit the last time he faced the Tribe, so I expect him to be a little more "focused" tonight. I wouldn't rule out a bit of "wildness" for a selective pitch either.

Just a guess. ;)

Good Guess @Jigfishn10 though ~  someone might get a boo-boo on their hind parts.

Indians say Sale sail away. The best fight was yanks/tigers.

Agree, all 3 of them.

EDIT: The Tribe certainly has Sale's number this year. Can't dispute that.
