Yum Pulse swimbait anyone have info?

Does anyone have any info on these? Their pics and video make them look pretty sweet. If they price them like their other baits and the tail isn't a board like the havoc grass pig, these things could be hot this summer. Curious when they will hit the shelves.

It is strange, here is the video of the bait, under 400 views in a week. They are talking about it on FB but that really appears to be about it.

I think I heard on Bass Live during the classic Christie was using a prototype of it.  YUM has been posting pics of some of the colors in packages so I guess it's coming soon.

Agree with the Grass Pig comments - however that tight , less action (board ?) Grass Pig action is good for colder water where you don't want a lot of wobble and roll (i.e. think lipless crank bait for winter) .

The board was meant as stiff as a board, when I did some tests the tail barely moved on the pig. Will be curious to see the quality of this bait and the tail action.

Not sure why no one wants to talk about or excited to see this bait, but it is on the TW site now for 3.99 for an 8 pack of 4.5" baits. Their date to have them in stock is May 11. I am hoping local shops get them sooner which fits better with the release date I got from Yum. It looks good, can't wait to try it, awesome price point.

I like the Grass Pig, have had great success with the full size and junior. A dollar cheaper and I get the same number of baits is going to make the Pulse a hard sale for me.

But you do throw the Keitechs right? I just want to get my hands on this one to see if it is a bait that can be slow rolled and get some kick yet at a decent price point. When I tested baits the grass pig was a joke in my opinion, and even the swimming fluke took a decent pull to get the tail kicking. I did not test the Keitechs, but from what you guys have said they can be pulled slow but are fragile so I have stayed away from them. What I want in a swimbait is something that can be pulled as slow as a kalins grub and get some tail kick and be as durable as that grub.

Same price per bait as the 5" grass pig.

Yes, I throw the smaller Keitechs when I need a bait with more tail wag or to be able to retrieve very slowly. I fish the Grass Pig on a football head or a keel weighted swimbait hook and I use the Jr as a trailer. It's a more subtle bait. Looking at it you can tell it's not going to have that pronounced side to side wag that some baits have. Instead it's more of a body roll and softer tail kick. The ribbed baits catch more water and allow them to have that greater tail wag than a smooth bait like a Grass Pig or Cane Thumper. Sometimes the fish will want one over the other like anything else.

My mistake on the pricing, I was thinking the Grass Pig came in an 8 pack as well. They're $1.99 all the time at the local Academy stores here though, so I have a few dozen bags already on the pegs in the garage. That combined with their durability has kept me from buying any for a long time.

Sorry I thought you were one of the Keitech or bust crowd. I am trying not to give in on buying higher priced baits so companies don't start to price gouge even worse because they know some will pay. I agree with you. 90% of the time I use Fishog or Havoc baits. They are inexpensive but work great. I don't know if the sale is still going but Fishog has all their baits at $.99 a pack. I do occasionally use Keith but only on Swim jigs or A-Rigs. And even then I usually opt for the cheaper Speed Shad by Bass Pro.

I am guilty too I have a big box of swim senkos that originally my wife got me on a vacation and they worked great for frontal bass. I then shopped sales and with some patience I was able to fill out my box with the colors I wanted. It has been easier though with cranks to stay cheap than soft plastics.

Got a couple bags to try out this weekend.  I have not seen anyone talking about these since this thread, has anyone tried them yet?  I am thinking about using a weighted swim hook as i'll be fishing these from the bank.

Curious how they worked out, I have a couple of bags ordered that I should get next week. I think everyone is excited about other swimbaits coming out, or they just don't like Yum baits.

See that's one thing I don't get. I just got 3 packs of keitech 7$ each and got one free. 5.25 per pack of somthing that every fish in the lake will follow is worth it. I put mine on a twistlock hook and it lasts just as long as a senko. I've caught pike and had lures last weeks. Some guys have Plano boxes full of crank baits and they only use one of the 30 8$ cranks they own. Keitechs aren't gouging prices I think their production and shipping costs might be double what zoom might be. I fully understand what bluebasser86 said. Sometimes the kietech looks so healthy, the tail moves too much that you want the subtle grass pig. Or the havoc might be better on a bladed jig. I will try this yum if it's a nice medium in between the crazy wide kick of the kietech and the slow dieing subtle kick of the grass pig. Also I have always liked their brand and other lures.

About all I can say is after the Senko came out and Lucky Craft baits too, companies saw that people were willing to pay more for gear. One company in particular, Rapala definitely appeared to raise their prices, unless it was all the bait shops trying to increase margins. Also if you look, the price per plastic has started to rise too. If I try Keitechs, I will get them on deal like you did, and like I did with the box of swim senkos that I have. But largely I have stayed out of this lure category because these generally are the pricier plastics out there. Call me cheap, but I already couldn't fish everything I have, so why buy more lol.

Well the price of food and goods rose. Zoom which have no scent and have been around forever are still 4-5$ a pack at dicks and I got the keitechs for 6. Difference is every fish in the lake follows the keitech not so much with a regular lure. I won't buy senko cause to me big bites baits work just as well for 25 pack for 5$. But to me there is nothing like a keitech, I see the yum pulse to replace the swimming flukes and grass pigs.

Interested if anyone can report on the pulse vs other swimbaits yet?  Like several posters on the thread, I like to keep my costs down, and in general I like companies that can put out stuff mere mortals can afford.  I'm not a very good trend follower.  However, I "accidentally" picked up a few Swing impacts in one sale, and then after seeing how well they worked had to go get some Fats the next week.  I have to admit they have been just an incredibly simple and effective bait on a swim jig.

I just came across a lone pack of Pulse swimbaits that had a "worm" sticker on them and were mixed in with the latest YUM assortment at my local WW.  Not sure if that means they are a flash in the pan, they are mixing them in with other plastics to help make anglers aware of them, or they simply had a bunch left over and tossed them in with the rest of the bargain bin shipment.   I will try them out alongside the Impacts soon and report back...
