Super User ChrisD46 Posted March 21, 2016 Super User Posted March 21, 2016 I bought the Silver color in the new Rapala Shadow Rap Shad (shallow version) to try . Without question - this bait was designed to be fished on #8 lb. to # 10 lb. mono as it is designed to float nose up slightly while at rest !. * My biggest issue now is : What additional one or two colors would make for a good staring point selection to go with the Silver color I purchaced ? ... Lots of new / exisiting colors in the Rapala Shadow Rap Shad line up to choose from ! Quote
Super User Crestliner2008 Posted March 21, 2016 Super User Posted March 21, 2016 Are you fishing for LM or SM? If the later, I'd go for something gaudy and bright. Smallies love that stuff! Quote
bassin is addicting Posted March 21, 2016 Posted March 21, 2016 Color? Bud worked well for me on this one. 2 Quote
Super User ChrisD46 Posted March 21, 2016 Author Super User Posted March 21, 2016 Mostly used for Spotted Bass (65%) and LMB (35%) ... I believe Spotted Bass are similar to Small Mouth Bass in that brighter colors (gaudy) tend to be more popular ? I would think having perhaps a Silver and Olive Green for LMB and perhaps something bright such as : Bud , Clown , Imposter , etc. would appeal to spotted bass more ...Your thoughts ? Quote
mrmacwvu1 Posted March 21, 2016 Posted March 21, 2016 For spots and smallies I have always had luck with clown colors Quote
Super User eyedabassman Posted March 21, 2016 Super User Posted March 21, 2016 Let the water color tell you what colors you should have. Clear go with shad colors, over cast days I like dull colors and if the water has alot of color go bright color baits. Quote

Baed on above - I specifically think the Ghost Shiner and Silver colors are good for clear water , I would think the Olive color would be good for overcast and the Clown / Bud colors would be good for stained water and / or severe overcast conditions . 1 Quote
Super User smalljaw67 Posted March 21, 2016 Super User Posted March 21, 2016 The color "Gone" is what I have, you got silver so "gone" or "purple haze" would be what I would grab. The reason being is you have a baitfish imitator so it is natural, the purple haze and gone both have purple hues, purple is a color a lot of forage species, including shad, turn when they begin to die, it is a condition called thermal shock. 8 hours ago, bassin is addicting said: Color?
