hoosierbass07 Posted March 20, 2016 Posted March 20, 2016 I was at Gander Mountain today and I was looking at the Lews baitcasters. They had three or four or five different ones. I keep hearing and reading that people love all those Lews baitcasters. I'm not a fan of baitcasters (I have Shimano Chronarch) but now I want to buy another baitcaster to play around with. I would like to buy one that can cast well with 12 mono for Texas rigs, medium size spinner baits and soft swim baits (Gambler EZ). Any suggestions? My price range is around $200 or under. Thanks! IDUTBass Posted March 21, 2016 Posted March 21, 2016 I just got my first lews which is also a Tournament Pro G. I love it so far. It's the only lews I have tried, but I picked it up for $155 at American Legacy Fishing club. 1 Quote
Wingman87 Posted March 21, 2016 Posted March 21, 2016 Crazy good deals on eBay for lews reels right now, if I was gonna suggest one for someone who's not a huge baitcaster fan or looking for an affordable reliable reel I'd suggest the lews tournament mb. It's a dream to cast, lightweight, and built like an absolute tank, plus in my opinion it is one of the most comfortable reels to palm and fish all day. I would also suggest you get one in the 6.8:1 ratio, perfect all purpose ratio for t-rigs and moving baits. 1 Quote
WPCfishing Posted March 21, 2016 Posted March 21, 2016 The Team Lite or a Magnesium are both "10" reels. Quote
desmobob Posted March 21, 2016 Posted March 21, 2016 I don't have any experience with the new "G" versions, but I have five of the old-style Tournament Pros and really like them a lot. I use the 7.1:1 models on my T-rig rods. Less than $200.... Tight lines, Bob Quote
WdyCrankbait Posted March 21, 2016 Posted March 21, 2016 Yeah, I dont have a Tournament G, but knowing Lew's it is going to be good. I do have a Tournament Lite SS, great little reel. I would recommend getting a Lew's with the ACB casting control sytsem on it. That is the BEST CASTING SYSTEM I have ever used. Much better then my 6 pin Cuardo 200E's Shop around, the guys are right, deals are everywhere on the internet for these reels. 1 Quote
finesse68 Posted March 22, 2016 Posted March 22, 2016 May I ask which model of the Shimano Chronarch you have? Do you like it, since you said you weren't a fan of baitcasters? Quote
hoosierbass07 Posted March 22, 2016 Author Posted March 22, 2016 I have a shimano chronarch 200e6. Last year I've been using it to throw crankbaits. Quote
GetJigginWithIt Posted March 23, 2016 Posted March 23, 2016 Have you looked at the new curado i or citica i? Just askin because you said you have the chronarch. The new shimanos are very nice reals. I would get the citica because the extra cost for the cr bearings in the curado is steep. Quote
