mnbassman23 Posted March 20, 2016 Posted March 20, 2016 Maybe a long shot but has anyone here installed SI on a ranger 175 vs? Just trying to find the best place to install the transducer. If anyone could post a pic of their install that would be great. I grabbed a few pictures off of google images (not my boat) and if anyone wants to give me some input on where they would put the transducer I'd appreciate it. I don't have my boat here to take pictures, but hopefully someone can help me out here. Quote
Super User WIGuide Posted March 21, 2016 Super User Posted March 21, 2016 I haven't put one on a 175. It's hard to say with the pics provided. First one looks like the best option, but you'd need a 2D transducer to put in the hull or mount elsewhere for depth when running at speed. That's where we put my dad's on his 519 and it works well, but it really depends on the actual hull itself. I've got a Sport R70 and couldn't mount my Lowrance SS tranducer there because it didn't hang down far enough to clear the cupped section on my setback. Picture 2 will also work, but same as location 1 you're mounting it where it's out of the water while running so you'd need a 2d trans in addition. Pic 3 is a definite no. There's not enough room there as you can see even the bracket itself is hanging below the hull. It would read, but it's far less than ideal. If you get a better shot from the back and from the side straight underneath it'd be easier to help you out. Quote
mnbassman23 Posted March 22, 2016 Author Posted March 22, 2016 Thanks WIGuide I was figuring pic 3 was a no go. I wish I had my boat to take better pictures. I have a thru hull for running so that isn't an issue. I just want it to work at speeds up to 3-5mph. Quote
Super User slonezp Posted March 22, 2016 Super User Posted March 22, 2016 Ask to move this to the electronics forum and wait for Wayne P to answer Quote
Super User Wayne P. Posted March 22, 2016 Super User Posted March 22, 2016 The top picture is the best location and most that do that exchange the transducer for the XPTH 9 HDSI 180 T which takes a 1" plus hole in the transom extension and looks like this when installed. Quote
mnbassman23 Posted April 6, 2016 Author Posted April 6, 2016 I got it installed and working like a charm. Ended up mounting it like the first picture, as you all had suggested. Thanks again. Quote
