glayne0930 Posted March 20, 2016 Posted March 20, 2016 I have been trying to pick between going to something new such as swimbaits for using anything between s wavers to huddlestons or stay with jigs but i can't make up my mind. I fish clearlake. Quote
Super User WRB Posted March 20, 2016 Super User Posted March 20, 2016 Irod G2 LG swimbait rod is 7'6" to 8' long....long rod for jigs unless you are flipping or punching. I suggest to stay under 7'4" (IRG744C) for a jig rod w/100 or 200 series reel used for casting. Daiwa Lexa 300 series reel for low profile for combo of jigs and swimmers or Shinamo Cardiff 300 series round reel for 2oz to 5 oz swimmers. Tom PS, Clearlake put out a 16-4 recently, looking very healthy! Quote
glayne0930 Posted March 20, 2016 Author Posted March 20, 2016 I know I already have a jig rods but should i stick with a jig or try to go to a swimbait? Ps they also had a 15 and two 14's. People think we are gonna break the record which is 17 almost 18. Quote
Airman4754 Posted March 20, 2016 Posted March 20, 2016 A couple guys I know had over 80lbs on their ten best fish at Clearlake last weekend fishing Hudds and lipless cranks. Another buddy had 27.5lbs on four fish on the Delta yesterday. NorCal is heating up for sure. Quote

Add a specific use swimbait rod, the 8' heavy swimbait Irod is a good choice for 8" or 68 Hudds and whatever in the 2 to 6 oz weight range. Tom Quote
