Blake Riggs Posted March 19, 2016 Posted March 19, 2016 I want an all purpose rod that I can throw anything on. The veritas is good for cranks and stuff I know but I don't know about jigs, Texas rigs, ect. What do y'all think? Quote
Allen Der Posted March 20, 2016 Posted March 20, 2016 if it is a fast action, I dont see why not. Quote
SwampLife Posted March 20, 2016 Posted March 20, 2016 Yeah I have one 2.0 micro 7' MHF has a lure rating 1/4 to 1oz you should be good with that rod Quote
mhilgtx Posted March 20, 2016 Posted March 20, 2016 I just got rid of my 2 veritas rods and replaced with Dobyns Furys. I feel they are much more sensitive. Quote

It's not very sensitive, but if you learn how to weigh your jig with it you should be OK. Quote

I have been using 1 for chatterbaits and one for buzzbaits. Quote
IndianaFinesse Posted March 20, 2016 Posted March 20, 2016 I don't know about the veritas, but if they are any where near as sensitive as the villain they would be great for fishing jigs. Just for future reference though, fishing factory outlet usually has the veritas for fifty dollars and the villain for sixty.? 1 Quote
Super User fishnkamp Posted March 20, 2016 Super User Posted March 20, 2016 I own several original series Veritas rods. For lipless cranks you want the 7 foot Medium. That model has the best tip for small cranks or rattle baits. For jigs the Veritas 2 7MHF would be fine, I use it for a frog rod. I know they brought out one for frogs but not until I got this one. i caught a terrific sale at Dicks all of the Veritas originals, they were on sale for half price plus the store had an instore 25 percent off special going on. I paid less than $30 for each! Quote

Not sure what you mean, but shipping is usually free over 40$, and if they don't they have free shipping some other sale is always going on like 20% off, fifteen over fifty off, etc.. Quote

Like do they ship them protected in big tubes like you would receive if you ordered a rod from tackle warehouse?? I know fed ex and ups handles packages very rough. Quote
IndianaFinesse Posted March 21, 2016 Posted March 21, 2016 They are shipped in long boxes protected with paper and bubble wrap. Quote
WPCfishing Posted March 21, 2016 Posted March 21, 2016 Check out the IKE rods.. I have two of them and plan on buying another. Quote
Kevin22 Posted March 21, 2016 Posted March 21, 2016 I use a 7'MHF veritas 2nd gen for pitching jigs. Its really a Heavy power. A 3/8 jig with trailer just barely loads the tip. It is very sensitive if you have good line on it, I've never had a problem distinguishing sand from pea gravel and stumps from rocks. I've bought from FFO before, they do ship their rods the cheap way but they will replace them if broken in shipment. Same with dicks sporting goods and academy sports. Quote

Yes, they do ship them cheaply but will stand by there warranty. They replaced a defective rod and even a rod that broke because I dropped it on the rocks, even though they didn't have to. If you need to replace a rod call there number and they will help you, don't e-mail them as all e-mails are ignored. Quote

So you think if I want more of a texas rig and 1/4 - 3/8 oz jig rod I should get a medium Veritas? Not the medium heavy? Quote
Kevin22 Posted April 12, 2016 Posted April 12, 2016 As long as you are not fishing heavy cover, i would go for the M. Quote
