Those Keitech packages take about alot of room in my soft tackle box. What is the best method of storage for those things? A Plano box? A zip-lock bag? Thanks for any suggestions you may have. As its time to start smuggling my new orders home from work that my wife doesn't know about ;)

I think these would be one of those baits to keep in the clam-shell packages to preserve the shape and action -- especially at the price per bait.

What i hate is when I put them on a swimijg as a trailer, but then cut the swimjig off to put on a different bait.  I glue the bait on the jig so there's no real way to take it off and put it back in the package.  Any of you geniuses have any suggestions on a storage solution for that? :)

I keep my jigs in a Plano, usually three to a section. Just put the jig with trailer on top. This makes for a "soft landing" and will not affect the integrity of the trailer as long as it is not smashed by the lid. More generally, I have two trailers on the bottom, two swim jigs unrigged faced opposingly and one rigged on top.

The Keitech's are tough. What size and model are you using? I really only use the five inch Swing Impact Fats. To store them I use a Flambeau 4007, with all the slots removed and run the baits vertically. I can normally fit about 10 baits in each slot with more then enough room for more. Theres six slots so I put a different color in each. I'm able to comfortably run 60+ baits in one box with no worries. I can honestly say this is the best way I have found to store them. Hope that helps!

Keitechs are tough? I really don't get that one! I think these are the softest, most easily destructable baits I've ever used. They catch fish, though. But based on two days fishing, I am going to find a better jig/hook than what I have used, and also look for a tougher bait that works as well. Maybe it exists. This could get expensive. A Zoom super fluke, I bought a bunch of these on sale at Academy and they were 18 cents each. I have caught more fish on a fluke than any bait I've used in the past few years. I like these Keitechs a lot but they are about a dollar each!

Your Flambeau looks interesting for this.

I think he meant the Keitech storage idea was tough.

Yep sorry for the confusion. And the 3.8's will work fine in that situation, the only ones I wouldn't put in the 4007 is the 5.8's. A little to bulky and long, lots of twisted tails.

I use a screw lock 5/0 EWG made by VMC for mine and have no issues with durability. Also Mend-It is a great product to try. Fix up the baits you used that day when you get home and there as good as new for the next time around. No doubt the Super Flukes are great baits, but the Keitech's and Super fluke both have there time and place for when to be fished. Some people can justify the price on some baits, but for others its just not worth it.

I keep the major Keitech inventory stored in their original plastic packs in the garage. Then I refill as needed the Ziploc bag in my take-with tackle bag. They seem to do fine in the Ziplock bag, at least for a few weeks, and I haven't had trouble with misshapen tails.

That works until I put the Plano box vertically in my storage bag, so naturally the bait folds over on itself and I end up with a crooked tail.  I can boil the tail at home to straighten but that doesn't help me when I'm on the water.

I've contemplated trying to cut the Keitech packages into individual clamshells but I have my doubts I can do that well.  Anyone got any contacts at a plastics molding company?  Individual clamshells may be the ticket! :)

I have alot pre rerigged and the tails normally are fine in my tackle box. I also know what you mean as the clamshell aren't "stackable" and take up a lot of cubic inches of much needed space. First I will take an old package and put 5 different 3.8 fat colors in one box and then have a pack or two of my fav colors. Or for the over the shoulder strap bag I use when walking I actually cut a pack in half with a box cutter to save space and have a couple spares thay won't bend out of shape. I guess in both cases I didn't really bring the most I could but I did save space, have what I need, and can restock it.

I once bought some Nichols MBP swimbaits on sale from TW. They came in some clear acrylic/PVC type tubes with end caps on them. Ever since then I've been storing Keitech's like that. I'd have to get the exact dimensions of the tube, but I store 2 packs of 3.8 inch or 4.3 inch no problem. If you get thick enough tube you can throw them around and do whatever with them, without worrying about the tails folding over, etc. I can post some pics later.
