22hertz Posted March 19, 2016 Posted March 19, 2016 I'm in the market for a casting rod and after looking at several I like the feel of the Falcon Bucoo. One reservation I have is the multiple user accounts of these rods breaking and the lack of warranty. I looked at 4 Bucoo rods today and each had a tiny flaw in the blank. One had what looked like a finger nail impression in the blank under the resin coating. If you own or have owned a Bucoo rod did it break? If so did Falcon take care of you? Does Academy Sports still do the over the counter swap? Quote
Brandon Moss Posted May 5, 2016 Posted May 5, 2016 I know Academy still does over the counter swaps. Bet warranty in the business in my opinion. Quote
SwampLife Posted May 5, 2016 Posted May 5, 2016 I own 3 bucoos, tough rod.. Only problem I had is the micro guides bend very very easy ..buy you can bend them back straight. 1 Quote
Super User new2BC4bass Posted May 5, 2016 Super User Posted May 5, 2016 No Bucoos, but several other Falcons. Several years ago I picked up a 3 rod package of Experts. Loved the 7' Medium. Fell face first into a pile of rocks breaking two pieces off the tip. Called Falcon. Told them what happened. Sent the rod section with the specs and $80. Sent me a new $200 rod. Some might think this wasn't a good deal, but I feel Falcon didn't have to do anything for me as it was 100% my fault. Have bought more Falcons since. 1 Quote
SMITTY0045 Posted May 6, 2016 Posted May 6, 2016 I have had one for close to 4 years now, and I haven't had any problems with it. They are very sensitive rods and they seem to have a surprising amount of backbone. I wouldn't hesitate to get one Quote
Nick S Posted May 6, 2016 Posted May 6, 2016 I love my falcon bucoo casting rods, never had one break. They are the best casting rods in that price range imo. Just don't get the micro version, the guides are junk they bend and break off VERY easily. Quote
Brikon Posted May 6, 2016 Posted May 6, 2016 I dont have any Bucco rods, but i do have 2 Falcon Jason Christie rods and i like them both. What SwampLife mentioned above is true, the guides bend fairly easy but they bend right back. Other than that they a great rods definitely worth the money. I really like the feel of the 7' Medium-Heavy/ Moderate Action rod. Quote
d-camarena Posted May 6, 2016 Posted May 6, 2016 Bucoos are the best at that price in my opinion. Never had one break on me Quote
Nick49 Posted May 6, 2016 Posted May 6, 2016 I purchased one a few years ago when Walmart carried them. Very light and sensitive. Tip broke on a hook set. When I took it back to Walmart I discovered they had replaced the Bucoo with a Jason Christie model. I think I took home an Abu Vendetta and the cash difference. I would take a chance on one again - or perhaps go with a BPS Carbonlite or St. Croix Mojo. Quote
Super User gulfcaptain Posted May 6, 2016 Super User Posted May 6, 2016 Have quite a few (8 total) No issues, and yes they are all micro guides as well. Nice rods, very durable. I'm thinking if the people that have had issues with this line and Falcon didn't follow the registration policy to cover their rods. And yes the micro guides will bend, but still haven't had an issue with the Fuji Micro's as seems they ALL bend. If you don't like micro's go regular just harder to find the selection of rods in the standard guide size. Quote
Nick S Posted May 6, 2016 Posted May 6, 2016 I think the reason you're hearing reports of these rods breaking is because they are sold at walmart. I would never buy a rod from Walmart unless it was extremely discounted. Everybody and their brother has messed with those rods on the rack at walmart. 1 Quote
