Pike lures

I'm in northeast Ohio and have a pretty good sized pond down the road and there are some pike in there along with bluegill crappie bass and carp what would be some good lures for the pike. Everyone says the ones they have cought are near 24"

Any big bass bait. Spinnerbaits, crankbaits, topwaters, if it moves and makes a sound a pike will hit it! #5+ inline spinners are also a good choice, as well as long stickbaits (12-14 rapalas). 

 

Or... just one of those bluegills hooked in the back and under a big float....

Anything bright or obnoxious.  Bonus points if it's expensive or rare, they love that stuff...  (weeping)

Anything you would use to catch bass should get bit by pike. A larger profile doesn't hurt either. The last few years I've caught most of my pike on T-rigged 10" ribbon tail worms while bass fishing.

They like to react to spinning lures like spinnerbaits and inlines.

Or go old school and use a red/white Dardevle spoon.

If I had one pike lure, it would be a spoon. They love them.

Those are not very big pike, so I would stick to bass lures. Try the old Johnson Silver Minnow. Great spoon for hammer handles.

Big, fast and noisy and pike can't resist it.  But as webertime mentioned, expensive or rare lures seem to draw them into swallowing deep.  Last summer, a big pike ate a new Megabass Popmax of mine on its very first cast out of the box.

I have caught the majority of mine on Booyah Spinnerbaits... Bought a couple whopper ploppers. . Can't wait to use them..

Those snot rockets will usually bite almost anything that moves and resembles food.  They're so abundant and willing to bite up here in central MN that you sometimes literally can't get anything past them so that bass even get the opportunity to bite.  Snake after snake gets old so quick.

Honestly, I love catching em.  They taste d**n good too!!  Pain in the arse to clean but friggen delicious!

As stated, any bass lure will work.  I personally do very well with lipless cranks, jerkbaits and spinnerbaits.  DEFINITELY have a good leader tied on!

I'm a catch-and-release guy, 98% of the time.  I keep the occasional walleye or some yellow perch once in a while.  A neighbor of mine was an avid catch-and-eat fisherman and he always said Northern Pike were his absolute favorite fish to eat.  That was a big statement coming from him, so I figured I had better try one.  I took one home from an ice-fishing trip and tried it.  Delicious!  I would say I like it as much as walleye and yellow perch, and they've always been my favorite freshwater fish to eat.

Pike will eat anything, especially something that's moving fast and is flashy.  And if you want a lure garrunteed to hook big pike, tie on your most expensive lure on and go bass fishing.  Pike can't resist expensive lures on light line.  I love fishing for pike, but I hate them when i'm bass fishing.

It gets real old on the horseshoe chain! Those things nip off a crankbait as fast as you can tie it on. They especially love $10-15 topwater frogs in Becker. They turn them to swiss cheese every 10 casts.

Exactly right! Pike has a great taste and can be cooked in many ways that panfish cannot. My favorite has to be grilled, but it is also great cut into strips and fried then dipped in spicy seafood sauce.

Haha, so true.  Don't you just love them ripping holes in your spro frogs, rendering them useless because they take on water?
