Wbeadlescomb Posted March 19, 2016 Posted March 19, 2016 Dang I can't remember the last time I put the boat in and didn't atleast catch a fish. There are a few 2 or 3 fish days mixed in there. Usually if the bass are slow I can swap over to shooting docks for crappie and catch a bunch of crappie and a few decent bass. Dad caught a 4-14 lb bass a few days ago on 4lb test and a 1/32 ounce jig while we were shooting docks. I'm glad I live in the alabama where it never gets too cold to fish 2 Quote
Loochy88 Posted March 20, 2016 Posted March 20, 2016 I bankfish a local pond on my lunch break, and have gone 3 or 4 days with nothing at times. Although these trips are only about an hour each... Quote
Slade House Posted March 20, 2016 Posted March 20, 2016 37 days straight (it was october -early november) when i first got my boat and first started fishing lake casitas. I could slay the potomac river , lake anne, and most any other mid-atlantic pond or lake , but i'd never had this happen. Worst yet, was i had a fish finder , i could see the d**n fish but i couldn't catch not a single one, and they're were lots. around day 33 , i completly broke down , and on day 37 i caught a fish. 1 Quote
Super User Sam Posted March 20, 2016 Super User Posted March 20, 2016 From this past November, 2015 to March 18, 2016. Put boat away; put tackle away; put maps away; put fishing away; and got ready for Thanksgiving and Christmas. This past Friday I caught my first two bass from a client's pond while waiting for the meeting. They were not big. The first one was a beautiful bright green fat dink and the second about a pound and a quarter. Caught both on a spinnerbait. Missed a small one on a Zoom shaky head trick worm. But they count! Now, waiting for the weather to warm up to hit the lakes, rivers and ponds. Quote

I know its a game of patience but I was just wondering what was your longest stretch with out catching a bass? It´s been two years. Quote
BassDude802 Posted March 20, 2016 Posted March 20, 2016 From December of last year to today, got 3 bass on a rattle trap, love that bait Quote
YoTone Posted March 21, 2016 Author Posted March 21, 2016 wow sorry i asked some of you to relive some of these experiences. some are pretty torturous, especially the ones with boats. Quote
Super User scaleface Posted March 21, 2016 Super User Posted March 21, 2016 Probably about 8 hours . I cant remember the last time I went for a day of fishing and been skunked . Quote
Super User WIGuide Posted March 21, 2016 Super User Posted March 21, 2016 A few years ago I managed to start out our fishing season with 4 straight goose eggs. Granted 3 of those trips were on a flooding section of the Mississippi which I wasn't familiar with, but prior to that it had been 4 years or so since my previous skunking and 7 years before that. Fish the Mitt Posted March 22, 2016 Posted March 22, 2016 Last year (Spring 2015) I went about a month (equal to about 7 trips out) and couldn't catch a thing. Just got done with back to back wrist/hand surgeries and was in a cast and couldn't get anything right. Timing, finesse movement, rod grip, tip angle, etc.. I tried but came up empty time after time even though my fishing partner was catching fish. In the end, after getting my cast off and getting back into the rhythm of things, I learned a valuable lesson on just how important certain aspects are in fishing. Things seasoned anglers almost take for granted. The specific way we hold the rod, angle of rod tip, grip, finesse in our movement, hook-set reaction, etc... Essentially, you can have the right lure and be in the right spot, but if you can't fish it, ya can't fish it. Humbling and valuable experience. Terrible at the time though! Quote

BassThumb Posted March 28, 2016 Posted March 28, 2016 I'd say about 12-14 hours spread across 3 trips. Happened last summer during the dog days of summer. I caught a bunch of northern pike during those trips, but I couldn't find any biting bass no matter where I looked. I had to resort to fishing Senkos to break my fishless streak, and I can't stand fishing those things! Quote
tbone1993 Posted March 28, 2016 Posted March 28, 2016 Got skunked my last 3 times out. Have only gone to my local pond and the water levels and temp have been unstable. Every day I have off seems to be during or just after a front passes. Quote
fishingfan25 Posted April 7, 2016 Posted April 7, 2016 Very late to this topic but i went 7 trips in a row this past winter without fish Quote
Super User MickD Posted April 7, 2016 Super User Posted April 7, 2016 I went to a Canadian lake that I had fished for many years. The last year I went I fished the whole week without catching a single keeper walleye. I watched a good number of fish being caught, but I totally struck out on a familiar lake that I normally did well on. It can happen. Quote
wnspain Posted April 8, 2016 Posted April 8, 2016 Went one December, January, And February without a tight line. Granted I only went for 1 - 3 hours at a time and only about twice a month. Quote
IndianaFinesse Posted April 8, 2016 Posted April 8, 2016 I don't remember the last time I got completely skunked. Whenever there is any threat of a skunk, and often before that, I just pick up the Ned rig. And on the rare occasion that the Ned rig strikes out, I just switch to crappie or white bass and clean up on them. 1 Quote
Super User 00 mod Posted April 8, 2016 Super User Posted April 8, 2016 In 2012- I had 2 times where I caugh 0 fish in a row 2013- 1 day 2014- 1 day 2015 - 1 day 2016- I have fished 14 days so far without a skunk...... Jeff Quote

Super User Ratherbfishing Posted April 8, 2016 Super User Posted April 8, 2016 Rarely do I get COMPLETELY skunked but that is because I hedge my bets. I don't USUALLY fish before the water has had a chance to warm up. I did get skunked 3 weeks ago but I knew better than to go out then. I just HAD to, though. 1 Quote
Super User Further North Posted April 9, 2016 Super User Posted April 9, 2016 1988 to 2006. I gave up fishing when my Dad passed away, didn't get back to it until my daughter asked to try it. Quote
frogflogger Posted April 10, 2016 Posted April 10, 2016 fishing specifically for big fish (really big fish) gives me many opportunities to get skunked. 1 Quote
TxHawgs Posted April 10, 2016 Posted April 10, 2016 Wow I feel bad for someone going 6-7 months without catching a fish. That beats your confidence down and just makes it harder and harder to catch them. The post was how many times did u fish and get skunked, not I didn't catch any for x amount of time cuz I wasn't fishing? And for the guys that go one day all yr without getting skunked why aren't you fishing the pro tour? Hell and I thought I was a better than average angler ? Quote
