Can anybody tell me what this thing is on the bottom lip?  Nastiest biggest growth i've ever seen, the pics don't even do it justice honestly!  I'm curious as to what it is and how it may have happened?

I've seen some with nasty split lips from cull tabs or stringers, might be a healing wound from one of those.

The bass in the susquehanna are getting things along those lines and it was written that they were tumors/cancer. The last I read the state of the fish and river itself are in a real bad spot.

I don't know what it is, but I wouldn't stick my thumb in there.

hindsight is 20/20 i suppose!  i was pretty excited and just lipped it.... then thought it might not have been the best idea!  if i have some funky growth on my hand in a day or two, it's safe to assume where it came from!

Call your local Fisheries Biologist and ask him/her what this mass on the Bass can be.The Biologist might ask you to obtain a Biopsy on the next Bass you catch with this condition so they can send it to a pathology lab if needed.
