Hey guys,

I'm here looking for some advice! I'm really wanting to invest in a nice, solid reel with a high gear ratio. It needs to be able to handle some big bass because I'm going to put it on my Falcon Cara T7 Bobby's Perfect Frog Casting Rod. So far, I've looked at the Tatula, the Metanium, a lot of other high gear ratio reels with nice drag, but the Morethan PE SV has me almost ready to pull the trigger and buy it. Let me know: is this a good idea or a bad idea? Also if anyone has a rod they they just love to frog fish with that is shorter than mine (7'10"), let me know and I'll consider it aswell. Again guys... just let me know any recommendations: Should I drop a pretty penny on the Morethan PE SV or should I get something else?

Thanks a lot!

I would just get the Zillion TWS SV, which is quite a bit cheaper than the Morethan SV.

only problem i find with the tatula is it isn't the most comfortable reel to palm so it might not be the best for frogging

I've used a metanium and am using the morethan pe sv for frogs and toads. Imo, it casts great and I can see the spool on a long cast using 30lb sx1. (I know it seems light but it's working for me.) I bought mine second hand on a whim and Id say other great options would be the zillion sv or exsence dc. Keep in mind this is the same as the tatula body in terms of size.

For frogging, the clicking drag of the morethan will be less than useful.

I'm using the Exsence DC and am delighted with it.

Check out Amazon right now for a suitable Shimano/Jackal Poison Adrena which I ordered yesterday for an unbelievable price of $199 shipped. They shipped mine today. Won't last long. Best Buy in rods at this point.

Would you recommend the Morethan PE SV or the Metanium? If so why?

For those reels, I'm having a really hard time picking which one I like more. I feel I can get slightly more casting distance with the morethan but the metanium is better to hold.

I guess if I were to do it again I'd have the metanium because I like shimano better. Keep in mind the morethan is no slouch!
