Global Moderator Bluebasser86 Posted March 17, 2016 Global Moderator Posted March 17, 2016 I was very excited about this bait when I first saw the sneak peak on FB a few months ago. Even more excited when I got the heads up they were available (thanks @00 mod ). Bait looked great when is showed up in the mail, everything I've come to expect from SG baits. It was extremely realistic yet it felt like it would really hold up to some abuse. So today against my better judgement, I got off work at noon after working a 12 hour shift and headed to the nearest pond just to give it a test run. First couple cast I just did a straight retrieve and the bait just looked awesome, might not have known it was fake if I wasn't the one that put it there. Only downfall was it stopped swimming at very slow speeds. Next cast I cranked it fast a few times and stopped, WOW! The bait kicked out to the side and just hung there like a gill that knew it was being followed and trying to find somewhere to get away. Couple more quick stop and go turns and I let it hang for an extra second at the bank and a fish smashed it but didn't hook up, game on. Couple cast later I had one pull the line tight but didn't get the hooks (not a lot of bigger fish in the pond so I wasn't surprised or disappointed in the bait over these fish, more excited by the action than anything). 5 minutes later I ran through some kind of small bait fish that scattered so I did a couple quick crank-turn-stops and then let the bait hang, Yahtzee, fish on! Not a big one, but man am I excited by what I saw in this bait, and for only $14?! It's basically like a multi-jointed swimmer/glide bait hybrid all rolled into one package. At just under 2ozs and 5" long, it's not a huge, intimidating bait for someone looking for some entry baits either, but I don't think any seasoned big bait flinger is going to be hard pressed to talk into this bait if they see the action of it. I know I'll have more headed my way shortly! 14 Quote

Super User NorcalBassin Posted March 17, 2016 Super User Posted March 17, 2016 With that report I think you may have sold a few more baits for them, including at least one for me on my next order... 3 Quote
catch anything Posted March 17, 2016 Posted March 17, 2016 do they fall on their sides when on the bottom or is it like the mattlures and rest nose down? Quote
boostr Posted March 17, 2016 Posted March 17, 2016 I was looking at these at the Fishing and Outdooor Expo the other day, Nice looking bait. What are you fishing it on? H or EH, and what taper MF or F Quote

I had the bottom treble on and the bottom is covered in moss so I never let it hit bottom. It seems like it would fall over though. 4 hours ago, boostr said: I was looking at these at the Fishing and Outdooor Expo the other day, Nice looking bait. What are you fishing it on? BrianMRetter Posted January 13, 2017 Posted January 13, 2017 Thanks for the review! I'm ordering one for this spring Question, was this the floating or alow sink model? Quote

I prefer the floating model, it seems to glide better and a wounded bluegill floundering on the surface is too much for them to take it seems. 1 Quote
Oklahoma Mike Posted January 13, 2017 Posted January 13, 2017 Sweet. I bought one of these late last year that I never had a chance to throw. Can't wait to give it a go this spring. 1 Quote

GrumpyOlPhartte Posted May 3, 2017 Posted May 3, 2017 I have had limited success with this lure; can verify that it bounces really well off the ice covering our lakes without sustaining any damage! Seriously, I just want to mention that the version I obtained is four inches and I have cast it with two rods. Since I am on a budget, I acquired an Okuma TCS 7'3" Frog/Swimbait rod and a Manley Gold Series Kayak rod (MRKBGH-B). My kayak is a sit-in style and rod butt length is a factor for me. The Okuma rod (rated for lures up to two ounces) has a butt length of 10 3/4" which is a little long for easy maneuvering but casts beautifully for me. The Manley (rated for lures up to one and a quarter ounces) has an adjustable butt length but may be a little light. I find that if I don't whip the rod tip when I cast, it seems to handle the four-inch model just fine. Not certain if this will help most of you, but if you're in my situation (poverty-stricken, stuck with a sit-in kayak, and wanting to try swimbait) you may want to try this lure in the aforementioned setups. Brian: The lures I bought have a removable weight just behind the anal fin. I imagine you could also use one of the slender drop-shot weights to suit your requirements. Just a thought. Quote
