Super User Shane J Posted March 17, 2016 Super User Posted March 17, 2016 So, for a long time, I have considered having a rod built just for me, to do precisely what I want it to do. Well, I recently made up my mind, that the next rod critical to my full-spectrum arsenal, was a swimbait rod to handle the upper end of what I want to throw. So, having made up my mind that I wanted to go custom, there was only one person I wanted to talk to. That helpful guy that's been building people their dream rods for years, and servicing our reels to better-than-new condition, Mike, at Delaware Valley Tackle. I cannot stress enough, that your builder, is your best friend in getting the rod of your fantasies. You gotta have a vision, and have someone on the other end who gets it, and Mike GETS it! Awesome guy to work with, and his rods are simply amazing. For my project, I wanted performance first, comfort and balance was important to me. I had envisioned a simple, classy, but with a sophisticated finish, rod that I would not need to upgrade ever. I think I chose the right guy. Thank you, Mike, for an amazing rod. Your attention to detail, and the quality in your work, is mind-bending. I haven't stopped fishing this rod since I got it, and it is KILLER! Wooo Weeeee! This rod's gonna be in my hands for a lot of hours, and I couldn't be happier!! If you're on the fence, just call DVT and chat with Mike, you won't regret it. 7 Quote
Super User Shane J Posted March 17, 2016 Author Super User Posted March 17, 2016 Shoulda mentioned, it's built on an 8' MHX blank, 3-8oz. Split foam grip, micro guides, gold accents to compliment the reel, and a couple personal touches for fun. 2 Quote
Global Moderator Bluebasser86 Posted March 17, 2016 Global Moderator Posted March 17, 2016 Nice! My custom swimbait rod is built on the same blank. 2 Quote

Yeah, was just basically tuning baits and stuff, but you're right, that would be when the biggest fish in the lake wakes up, when I have the world's crappiest hooks on! Good lookin' out, man! 1 Quote
Super User Dwight Hottle Posted March 26, 2016 Super User Posted March 26, 2016 Sweet build Shane. I hope it is a record breaker for you. 1 Quote
Super User Shane J Posted March 26, 2016 Author Super User Posted March 26, 2016 I can feel it inside me, Dwight. NH State record is going DOWN!! As for the rod, I cant put it down. It's my favorite by far. I keep coming up with excuses to throw something big, just so I can fish it. Now I kinda want him to make me the twin, but in the next heaviness class down, to cover 2-5oz baits. Bump the Guide select out of the lineup. 1 Quote
