Super User slonezp Posted March 17, 2016 Super User Posted March 17, 2016 For the last year I've been looking out my window at work at nothing but skyscrapers. Not that there's anything wrong with that as I appreciate architecture. But, let's face it, it gets kind of boring looking at Trump Tower everyday. Well, they moved my department from the SW corner of the building to the NE corner last Friday. The fog has been real thick and or clouds and rainy since the move. It finally cleared up today. This picture doesn't do it justice and I'll see if I can get some better ones. Come summertime the beaches will be full and the boats will be moving around. Already saw a guy trolling for salmon last Friday. In August they have the air and water show at North Ave Beach which is the first jetty you see. They practice on Thursday and Friday and I will have an eye level view of the jets as they go thru their maneuvers. It's going to be tough working under these conditions. This is the view of my building from the Lund. The tall building in the middle is the John Hancock building. I'm on floor 28. and another view from the Lund leaving Diversey Harbor 9 Quote
S. Sass Posted March 17, 2016 Posted March 17, 2016 I suggest some really thick window blinds, or a resignation letter. 1 Quote

Super User K_Mac Posted March 17, 2016 Super User Posted March 17, 2016 Nice pictures Slone. I love Chicago...to visit. I love the shore, the food, the museums, and that everyone and everything is going full speed at full volume! The cost of living there is higher than I can afford, and you don't have to get far off the beaten path to get into real trouble. Of course I live near St.Louis which is much the same. Enjoy the view. 1 Quote

Super User ww2farmer Posted March 18, 2016 Super User Posted March 18, 2016 I have worked a handful of times within sight of the lake on some of our custom jobs.................it kills me, and I spend half the day worrying about how to GTH out of there and go fishing.............only to realize that if I suddenly come down with a case of largemouth bass virus and need to go home the rest of the crew will spot me on the way to the water LOL. Every boat I see coming and going from the ramp makes it worse. 1 Quote
tipptruck1 Posted March 18, 2016 Posted March 18, 2016 Pay me 30 bucks a hour, and you wont want to look at the beach. 2 Quote
Super User Redlinerobert Posted March 18, 2016 Super User Posted March 18, 2016 How's the fishing there? Quote

I dont run into much bigger than that although i did get one pushing 6lbs about 20 years ago. There are resident largemouth in the harbors. This area doesnt get a lot of pressure on bass. When the perch are biting there are fishing boats everywhere. The coho will be running soon Come summertime the amount of pleasure boats can get annoying. Quote
quanjig Posted March 18, 2016 Posted March 18, 2016 Slo, I see a telescope for the office in your future!! Quote

Thanks to two evasive species. Door county has become one of the best small mouth places in the states. The Zebra muscles cleaned up the water. While the gobies are food for the small mouths. The one thing that surprised me is how clean the water now is. When I was a kid. The lakes had a green hue to them. I went to visit family in sturgeon bay about 10 years ago. The first thing I noticed while going over the old steel bridge. Was how clear the water has gotten. Going by your photo. The water has gotten a lot clearer. I think the only thing I miss about over there. Is the amount of fishing a man could do. Other wise I do not miss Door county. Quote

The old steel bridge LOL There are 2 new bridges now or, as I call them the new bridge and the new new bridge. The difference between Chicago and Door County is habitat. the water around Chicago is one big flat. There are no islands or reefs or boulders. All the habitat is manmade. There is better smallie fishing further south in Indiana, Quote

There is better smallie fishing further south in Indiana, I know there are now three bridges. Last time I went there was DEC of 2011. I heard from friends that they got a new bridge. Didn't go across it. Because my family was up near the hospital. So I just went over the HWY bridge. Funny how named the bridges that. When I lived there the hwy bridge was called the new bridge. While the old steel one was called the old bridge. Quote
