The Aetos, the Elite Tech Smallmouth rods were fantastic and since they are gone the Aetos get the nod.

Elite Tech Smallmouth is a great rod.  Light, sensitive, and feels great with any size bass on the line.

Wish I knew.  I bought mine on clearance from somewhere online after they were discontinued.  I have never seen any bad mouthing of them at all.

Do you know if there is that much difference between the villain and veritas?

I bought two Elite techs and an Aetos this winter, but haven't had a chance to do more than make a few casts. They all definitely look and feel nice, at least. The Aetos especially is a gorgeous rod, but all Fenwicks seem to have a classy look that I dig.

Other than price, no,  I prefer the veritas,  although I can't say there's anything wrong with the villains,  line your reel with fc, and you can feel every blade of grass and still haul big Bessie out of a lay down.

I bought two villains for fifty bucks and a couple orras over the winter and love them, and now it looks like the bait monkey talked me into getting a veritas now?

I love my Fenwick HMG's. I have a few Vendetta's and Vengeances and they're ok but the HMG feels much better. I also like the Fenwick Eagle (GT) alot.

Abu Garcia's Veritas are my favorite rods, owning three casting and one spinning.  They're light, sensitive (by my standards), and just feel good in my hands.  I own a Fenwick Silver Hawk caster and HMG spinner, which I don't use much.

Fenwick...Techna AV, its not made any more but IMHO it's better than a few 300.00 rods available today, and any of Fenwicks current line.

If you can find one you won't be sorry.

My only Abu rods are 2 Villains...one I like, one I don't.  Like all my Fenwick rods regardless of model line.  The Aetos is a beautiful rod, but I've got to say the Smallmouth series are exceptional rods for the money.  Nothing wrong with my HMGs or Tecnha AVs either.

Mike L has mentioned before how great the Technas are.  Got to start fishing mine more often now that my rod acquisitions have slowed to a stop.
