Puggz Posted March 16, 2016 Posted March 16, 2016 I'm currently deciding on whether to get a Medium Power, Moderate action casting rod or another MH, Moderate. I already have a Gen 1 Mojo bass crankbait rod (MH/Moderate) with at Tatula 100 so I'm thinking something for smaller cranks, spinnerbaits, etc. Quote
Super User Jrob78 Posted March 16, 2016 Super User Posted March 16, 2016 I use a MM for throwing small, light crankbaits. 2 Quote
Fisher-O-men Posted March 16, 2016 Posted March 16, 2016 Keeps the fish on. Stiffer, faster rods can rip out small trebles. 2 Quote
junyer357 Posted March 16, 2016 Posted March 16, 2016 Thats what i use for all cranks except deep divers. It keeps weight of lures in middle or so of rod rating instead of on lower end or possibly below rod rating of a MH. 1 Quote

Fishin' Fool Posted March 16, 2016 Posted March 16, 2016 You might be able to pair your reel with a Daiwa Tatula rod. You want the regular tip not the fast tip. I'm not exactly sure how regular compares to moderate. Quote
Fishin' Fool Posted March 16, 2016 Posted March 16, 2016 The Tatula regular appears to be moderate fast. http://www.walmart.com/ip/Daiwa-TAT701MRB-Tatula-Rods-B-Cast/36009108 If this is the regular Tatula and not the Tatula X here is a great deal for you. Quote
Puggz Posted March 16, 2016 Author Posted March 16, 2016 Thanks every1, sounds like just the ticket! I have a lot of success with scatter raps and smaller squarebills (for smallies) in the summer. 10lb Tatsu? Quote
HookdUP Posted March 16, 2016 Posted March 16, 2016 Believe it or not I'd give #10 yozuri hybrid a shot . It might surprise you Quote
Dypsis Posted March 16, 2016 Posted March 16, 2016 I have both a M/M and a MH/M that I use for cranks. I throw all my squarebills and some medium divers on the M/M and anything else on the MH/M (or if I'm fishing crazy cover, also one of my lipless rods). 9 minutes ago, Puggz said: Thanks every1, sounds like just the ticket! Also, hybrid or mono is great too (Sunline Defier Armilo) for cranking applications. Quote

I have a spool of 10# tatsu that I won at a seminar. I figured this would be a good place for it..lol Quote
Super User Spankey Posted March 16, 2016 Super User Posted March 16, 2016 Take a look at the St. Croix Premier Series. Glass Blend crankbait rods. I love mine 6'6". I had mine a few years and want another. I want to compare it to the New Mojo Med Cranker first. I can't buy a rod sight unseen or without touching it first. Thinking about the 7' Med. Mod. Throwing 1/4 - 3/8 oz. Rapalas for the most part with it. Quote
Super User Raul Posted March 16, 2016 Super User Posted March 16, 2016 For smaller cranks like a Shad Rap 7, I used to own a Kistler Magnesium TS Crankbait and the blank behaved superbly with the smaller offerings, too bad I hated the beefy handle and the reel seat, if you don´t like everything in a rod why keep it ? so I sold it. thebillsman Posted March 16, 2016 Posted March 16, 2016 That's a great rod. M/MF is ideal for squarebills and smaller jerkbaits Quote
Super User ww2farmer Posted March 16, 2016 Super User Posted March 16, 2016 No use for them here. I throw everything on a MH rod..........from KVD 1.5's up to SK 5xd's.................Oh, and I crank with braid too. It's a wonder I have ever caught a bass. Quote
strikefc34 Posted March 16, 2016 Posted March 16, 2016 Perfect action for jerkbaits, poppers and squarebills. Quote
Puggz Posted March 17, 2016 Author Posted March 17, 2016 Thanks to all the enablers on this thread!!! I'm now the proud owner of a 7'1", Medium/Moderate Fast made by a company you can't name here. Also grabbed a Ci4 6.2:1 to go with it. Wanted an Alde 6.5:1 but the ridiculousness has to stop sometime!! As bass season in Ontario doesn't start until the 4th saturday in June, I have this and 2 other new combo's to look at... It may be a long spring.. 1 Quote
