River Dave Posted July 24, 2016 Posted July 24, 2016 Hey good luck Chris! I've always heard good things about Oneida but I've never fished it. Haven't fished ANYWHERE this season so far. Brutal year. Hopefully I'll have more time this Fall. 1 Quote
ThinkRSX Posted July 24, 2016 Posted July 24, 2016 Wait wait wait... "Mr. I go to Florida for fishing and don't show up again for another 3 pages". How was Florida? Got some pics of those Marlins you landed? I don't know that I'd trade fishing for Florida, but it doesn't sound like your time has been monopolized by chores or things of that nature. Today was the first day I didn't get out fishing in 2 weeks. It was just to hot.  Jigger, I was going to hit you up yesterday, but it was 4:30 am when I was leaving my house. I figured you'd want a little more notice than that. 1 Quote
stratos122 Posted July 25, 2016 Posted July 25, 2016 Fished Chautauqua lake this weekend i have not fished the lake in years it was tough caught a few small bass but that was it everyone else i talked too wasn't doing much better. Quote
River Dave Posted July 25, 2016 Posted July 25, 2016 Oh boy, "how was Florida" The trip was great but the fishing certainly wasn't. We were right on the water of Tampa Bay (had a dock off the back patio) but the fishing was tough. I threw everything at them but the only thing that really worked was cut bait. We saw snook and tarpon and other sport fish but all we could catch were what I called saltwater sunnies, all different little fish. It seemed every time the fish were turned on a dolphin would show up and scare them all away. Was super cool seeing them the first day or two and then they got annoying because they killed the fishing. Saw some manatee from the dock too and that was real cool. Was never intended to be a fishing trip so the time I did get was a bonus, first time fishing saltwater like that. The rest of the summer has been nothing but chores so far. Was on vacation again a couple weeks ago but spent the week putting in new landscaping beds in the back yard so no fishing then either. Horrible week for that kind of work, felt like it was 100 degrees every day.? Â Â Â 1 Quote
BuffaloBassMaster Posted July 25, 2016 Author Posted July 25, 2016 Anyone ever fish a pond on Winbert Drive in NT? I went there the other day and caught 1 dink. Someone told me before it's pretty good but they weren't hitting much that I threw. I've heard that there are some good ponds up in Lancaster.. Anyone know of any? Quote
Titus-NT Posted July 25, 2016 Posted July 25, 2016 Has anyone fished over at Fishermans Park in NT? Someone just told me he saw a few guys pulling some pretty good size bass out of there. Quote

I have heard of people doing good there in the spring. I also have heard of people catching some monster walleyes there at night. Once again I think its spring early summer. I stopped there the other day made a few casts but my heart wasn't in it. My GF was there and even if she says she doesn't mind watching me fish I still feel funny about fishing while she stands there. 5 hours ago, BuffaloBassMaster said: Anyone ever fish a pond on Winbert Drive in NT? Anyone know of any? I'm surprised you can fish there on winbert dr. It looks like a private neighborhood pond? There are some real good ponds right near there on winbert but I have been chased out by sheriffs so many times I don't go back there anymore. Quote

ThinkRSX Posted July 26, 2016 Posted July 26, 2016 I stopped at the outer harbor last night on my way home from my daughter's lacrosse game. I was only fishing for about 1.5 hours, mainly to practice with jerkbaits, but it was dead. No bites, no one else had bites, and the water was so clear you could see that there were no fish. I'm thinking about trying Lake La Salle in UB or Pilecki pond after work. I'm not to sure about the pond. One shoreline has houses along it (backyards) and the other shoreline is pressed up to the I-990.  My hopes are that if I fish the 990 side and remain respectful of people's property (staying off of it), then I won't have any problems.  It's doubtful, but I remain hopeful. Dave, you need to make an "appointment" to fish. Set it 2-3 weeks in advance and tell yourself and your family that nothing is stopping you from getting out there!  Quote

Sean Barbour Posted July 26, 2016 Posted July 26, 2016 I have done well in the big lake at bonds and ok at the two smaller lakes. Only shore access for the bigger lake. It was weird though last year I tried fishing the big lake and I didn't have one bite or even see a fish? it was weird the lake just felt dead. I think they treat it for weeds sometimes not sure if that could shut down the bite and make fish scarce? There are definitely some huge grass carp in all three lakes and if you spook them they will spook you buy moving a ton of water! Some look as big as a small tarpon! 1 hour ago, Justjigger said: I hear good things about bonds lake I've never fished there before  Quote

I just wasn't sure if it was only an spring/early summer spot? I fish a spot like that in the outer harbor I do well till the end of june then it kinda shuts down. I figured I would try it regardless as it seemed like there were some spots weren't choked with weeds. There was a ton of floating grass that looked like it would be annoying though. If I can't come up with a better plan I think I will be at bonds lake sunday to. I will start on the big lake then try the smaller use one of my inflatables...... Quote

This heat has the river very warm and water level is down quite a bit. The weeds are horrible in both the lower and upper river. It's been a horrible summer for Fishing. Boat rarely leaves the slip. Bring on the hunting season. I'm dying to get my first crossbow kill. Quote
