10" ribbon tails have been driving me nuts. The tails often wrap on wood and actually hold on enough to cause me to have to retrieve them.  This is in a dense wood situation. Creatures and toads don't get much of a bite compared to the 10 and 12 inch worms do.  Looking for maybe a paddle type tail for some thumping action.  Any suggestions on brands to try?

+1

Uptons Customs make a spade tail "UC" worm, the 10" fishes big and his dragon tail is designed after the trick worm shape; straight tail, UC and dragon are all straight tail type worms that go through cover good. Aaron's tragic is another popular color.

I've never heard of either of these brands, I'm guessing they're available from t.w. ?

Go to your local walmart and pick up a pack of mans jelly worms for under five dollars. You will find everthing you need, or want at walmart 80% of the time if you just look.

Hmm, My walmart is in the center of some big fishing hubs in the southcarolina region so mine might be a bit larger in the fishing department. I retract my statement and say if you can find it grab up a bag or two.

Upton's Customs are available from TW in limited colors, you may need to order direct from Mann's if looking for the 12" worms.

My Walmart carries the Mann's 12"  They are down at the very bottom of the section with the plastics. They usually only have a couple colors. Right now they just have the Watermelon Red color in the 12" but it works well too. $3.94 a pack of 10

If you're looking for for a curly tail that doesn't wrap around timber nearly as bad try the Culprit Fat max.  They got 6, 7 and 9".  Terrific baits

China-mart isn't my first choice for anything except cheap ammo!  No walmart in Fl. carries more than a handful of non saltwater tackle useful for soaking a shrimp by a snowbird.  BPS had the 12" jelly worms but they look very transparent. Looking for a 10"+ worm not Culprits ribbon tails.  I'll check out the Fat Maxx. Thanks everybody...

Ever think of just trimming the tail so it doesn't catch on wood as much. Just a thought.

Producto makes a great 10", 12" straight tail worm with a paddle tail...The Yum 10" mighty worm is great, if you don't like the tails getting wrapped, The Culprit Fat Max comes in a few sizes that are designed for flipping weeds and the tails do not get twisted, GYB makes a great curly tail finesse worm that is 8-10" long...

I use the Producto worms which come in a huge bag for like $5...They are an OEM that makes awesome baits, we see many of their baits under other labels, but Producto sells on their site and DIcks used to carry them, but I love their bigger worms...Mizmo Scorpion worms are cheap as well on Hagens Fish *, that worm looks great and while there grab some brand name treble hook, worm hooks, jigheads half the price as Barlows or any other place online, some pricing is better than Wholesale from Maurice etc....

I'm partial to the YUM Mightee worm but the Upton's is a good bait too, just a lot pricier. Another option I'd suggest would be a 7" stickworm on a weighted T rig. While it's not as long, they're very bulky so they give off a big profile that appeals to larger fish.

That's exactly the worm I'm looking for. I've always liked Producto and haven't seen them in decades. I thought they were long gone. I didn't think to search for their website. Thanks for your help.

A guy local to me is a big booster for their saltwater sister company, 12 Fathom.   He gave me a sample pack and I have caught fish will every lure I have tried.  They make a great little ribbon tailed worm, lots of action and very light weight for the size.  Their stuff in general seems to be a good balance between soft/durable and buoyant/weighted.
