Mikeyslikz Posted March 14, 2016 Posted March 14, 2016 Just getting into bass fishing more ... Picking up my 1st boat this weekend a skeeter tzx195 . Looking to do some fishing and was wondering best lakes to really hit in that area. Also looking to pond hop as well. So far only fished shohola lake with my sea nymph 15fter and couple a couple of nice 4 lbers. Now looking to branch out . Any tips and spots would be greatly appreciated guys! Quote
zdunham Posted March 14, 2016 Posted March 14, 2016 There are a ton of lakes up there to fish. How far are you looking to drive? Wallenpaupack is a great place once you figure it out. Promised Land isn't too far south of there. You can catch hundreds there but 99% of them will be 11-13 inches. Fairview isn't too far south of Wallenpaupack either and has some pretty good fish in it. If you want to drive further north you have Prompton, White Oaks, and others. Quote

I'm willing to go 45 mins in any direction really. I heard fair view had a huge hump in it and be to real careful of it or I'll knock the lower unit off. I'm going to pick up the skeeter this weekend and I have the 15ft sea nymph for this tm only lakes . How many motor lakes are there around ? I know Wally and fairview . Is promised land one as well? Anywhere else u suggest to take the skeeter? Quote
zdunham Posted March 14, 2016 Posted March 14, 2016 Promised Land is electric only (You wouldn't want to motor there anyways as there are trees all over) . You already know you can motor on Fairview I see. Prompton is a 10 hp limit. Most of the lakes are electric only. I haven't been to every lake around because there are so many little ones, lol. Honestly Wallenpaupack is the best lake you'll be able to motor on. Fairview isn't really that big even though you can use your outboard. You could always go to Hopatcong in NJ but if you do that on the weekend you won't be able to move because of the crowds. Maybe someone else has more input here! Quote
Landis Carrier Posted March 14, 2016 Posted March 14, 2016 There's Beltzville, no HP limit there....but tough to fish! I've never had much luck there but some have. Quote
zdunham Posted March 15, 2016 Posted March 15, 2016 Beltzville has a lot of big fish in it, it just can be insanely hard to catch them. I didn't mention that because it's almost an hour and a half from the Pack. 1 Quote

I mean, there is some obvious stuff to fish like laydowns and whatnot, but if you really want to find them in the summer you need some good electronics. I don't have that much stuff marked there. thomas15 Posted March 16, 2016 Posted March 16, 2016 Mike If you haven't already you might find maps of the various Pocono lakes available from Con Walton (google it or most tackle stores have them). Also fishing hot spots has a map for the pack. I live right around the corner literally from the Pine Run boat ramp at Beltzville and I really cannot give sound advice on where exactly to fish it but if you have a time in mind to visit the lake I may have some insights to offer. It's not a huge lake (950 acres) and I would avoid it on the weekends for sure. I haven't figured Beltzville out yet, hopefully this will be the year I do! Nice area though, very scenic and basically no development along the shoreline. Deep clear water, some parts of the main lake over by the inlet for the dam are 140 feet deep. 20 feet off the boat ramp at pine run the water is 50-60 feet deep. There are shallow areas up in the creek arms and even in the main body of the lake, by the power lines and on the northern shore near the dam. During the spawn the bass are thick as fleas up by the preachers camp boat ramp opposite shore. 1 Quote
pejam Posted March 16, 2016 Posted March 16, 2016 FWIW. It probably wasn't you last weekend on Shohola Lake but it is worth mentioning that it is electric only as well. Someone was burning gas. Quote

Wasn't me I got a 15ft sea nymph just for that lake and the otherelectric only . Got 2 pigs out between 4-5 at the end of last season on spinnerbaits . Some big pigs in that lake if your patient ! 10 hours ago, thomas15 said: Mike If you haven't already you might find maps of the various Pocono lakes available from Con Walton (google it or most tackle stores have them). Delaware Valley Tackle Posted March 19, 2016 Posted March 19, 2016 The jerkbait bite on walenpaupack is great when the water hits 45*. Take full advantage of that. Fishing there gets tough once the pleasure boaters kick in. 1 Quote
