chashingfish Posted March 14, 2016 Posted March 14, 2016 How do you guys deal with a friend that post pictures of your catch as his own on social media? I got a friend that has been posting pictures of my fish on social media and he tells everyone he caught the fish. I have already told this guy several times to be honest and post his own catches yet he continues to post my fish even if its an old catch. Appreciate any help you guys can offer me in this situation. Quote
spartyon8 Posted March 14, 2016 Posted March 14, 2016 Stop fishing with him and put your face in the pic. 3 Quote
Super User Choporoz Posted March 14, 2016 Super User Posted March 14, 2016 I don't understand. Is he a guy who lies, cheats and disrespects you? Or is it a friend? Landmines in his yard? Drill holes in bottom of his boat? Put lead in his water? Lots of things you can do....get creative. 3 Quote
Super User gardnerjigman Posted March 14, 2016 Super User Posted March 14, 2016 If you put your face in your fish pics it would be pretty hard for him to post them up then... If he edits them just post up yours to call him out. Just asking but are you guys young? Seems like a pretty silly problem to have in all honesty lol. 2 Quote
Super User roadwarrior Posted March 14, 2016 Super User Posted March 14, 2016 He is not your friend. 6 Quote
Super User deaknh03 Posted March 14, 2016 Super User Posted March 14, 2016 Who cares. Its such a minor thing. Let him post whatever he feels he needs to. 5 Quote
chashingfish Posted March 14, 2016 Author Posted March 14, 2016 Thanks for the replies. I have the pictures of me holding my fish just don't post like posting my pictures.he always asked to take pictures with the fish so I let him. big mistake lesson learned! He has posted many of my fish stopped taking him fishing over a year ago and he made a new social media page showing the old pics to get more views.... Asked him to take the pics down since its not his catches lets hope he does. I taught him most of what he knows never knew their where people like that will show off another's catch as his own. Don't plan on taking him fishing again. Should I talk to this guy about this or just ignore him? Appreciate all the help you guys offer. Quote
Super User Choporoz Posted March 14, 2016 Super User Posted March 14, 2016 If you stop and think about it....how does this harm you? Except to elevate your blood pressure, give you an ulcer and maybe an aneurysm? Take a deep breath and let it go. 4 Quote

BassResource.com Administrator Glenn Posted March 14, 2016 BassResource.com Administrator Posted March 14, 2016 I'm going to say you're something-teen years old. That's not meant as a slam, but it's the type of thing teens do to each other, and get upset over. I strongly suspect he would not have created that 2nd account if you hadn't brought it up with him in the first place. But he got a reaction from you the first time, so he's doing it again to get another reaction. Apparently, you've ignored him too long for his tastes, so he's attempting to get your attention back. Don't give it to him. He'll soon give up and move on to somebody else who's willing to play his game and satisfy his insatiable appetite for attention. Block his accounts and move on. 4 Quote
Super User Darren. Posted March 14, 2016 Super User Posted March 14, 2016 Welcome aboard! I'm with the others. First, release your fish before he asks to take a pic with it. Or just fuggedaboudim. 1 Quote
Super User geo g Posted March 14, 2016 Super User Posted March 14, 2016 I agree with the others that said let it go. Pretty childish of him to post them and claim them as his. Just let it go, move on with your life and pick better friends next time. 2 Quote
Super User K_Mac Posted March 14, 2016 Super User Posted March 14, 2016 I also agree that life is too short to worry about such things. This knothead posting pictures of your fish does nothing long-term for him, and costs you nothing. Move on. 1 Quote
MFBAB Posted March 14, 2016 Posted March 14, 2016 Don't listen to these lies. This is how it really went down: I said, toss that fish over here so I can get a pic, and I caught it on the fly. The rest is history! 4 Quote
chashingfish Posted March 14, 2016 Author Posted March 14, 2016 Thank you guys for your responses! I am leaning on the side of never taking this guy fishing again as well as not wasting my time helping him I wanted to give it a try since I fished with the guy for years, but what he has done/is doing is extremely childish as many have stated. others I asked have gave answers that are just like the ones you guys gave me. Thank you all for your help Quote

Thank you all for your help Welcome to the forums! Is he profiting from posting photos of your fish? If not then does it really matter? Unless you are catching world record bass I see no harm in what he is doing. If there is money involved then file suit for your share. Otherwise what is the issue? I've caught many fish of varying sizes. I could care less if someone wants to pose with them. Have you asked the fish for their input on the matter? 2 Quote

Super User Ratherbfishing Posted March 15, 2016 Super User Posted March 15, 2016 In the grand scheme of things, it doesn't really matter and it's not worth bothering yourself over. Certainly don't let him drag you down to his level. On the other hand, if it bothers you that much, as a friend you have every right to asked him to stop. (Certainly you don't have to allow him to pose with any more of your fish). 1 Quote
quanjig Posted March 15, 2016 Posted March 15, 2016 Honestly, not sure which one of you is being more childish! IT'S A FISH!! I'm sure you can think of a better use of your time than worrying about a fish pic on some random social media page! If it bothers you that much, stop looking!! Quote
Super User jbsoonerfan Posted March 16, 2016 Super User Posted March 16, 2016 To think, this is an actual "problem" for someone. Life is really going to hit you hard. 3 Quote
