Dillo Posted March 13, 2016 Posted March 13, 2016 Is this a black or white crappie? I caught a bunch in a small pond yesterday, just curious. Quote
bassh8er Posted March 13, 2016 Posted March 13, 2016 You have to count the spines on the dorsal to be sure but I could call that a black. whites usually have more vertical bars. Quote
Super User Scott F Posted March 13, 2016 Super User Posted March 13, 2016 Looks like a black to me. 1 Quote
Super User Ratherbfishing Posted March 15, 2016 Super User Posted March 15, 2016 I'm gonna say a white crappie but I could be wrong. I can definitively say it's not a star-bellied crappie. Quote
Super User Crestliner2008 Posted March 15, 2016 Super User Posted March 15, 2016 Definitely a black crappie. Quote

IndianaFinesse Posted March 16, 2016 Posted March 16, 2016 Looks like It's a black crappie, white crappie usually have vague vertical bars. The only way to tell for sure though is to count the spines, white crappie have six and black have seven to eight. Quote
