Verisimilidude Posted March 12, 2016 Posted March 12, 2016 Well as the title states, this is my first bass of the year. Water temps still in the low 40s here. I was able to get out on my lunch break today. My guess is between 3-4 lbs. My second ever jig bass, and now i'm hooked! PS: Can anyone identify the jig? Can't remember if this is a Siebert Outdoors product or not...Green pumpkin/teal 4 Quote

Turtle135 Posted March 15, 2016 Posted March 15, 2016 Congrats on the season opener greenie! Great looking fish. Is that a Strike King Structure Head Jig? 1 Quote
Verisimilidude Posted March 15, 2016 Author Posted March 15, 2016 I do believe you're right. Thanks Turtle! Quote
Verisimilidude Posted March 15, 2016 Author Posted March 15, 2016 It was definitely on a pause, right after a small hop. I didn't even feel a bite, the line just got heavy. Quote
Super User *Hootie Posted March 15, 2016 Super User Posted March 15, 2016 Nice to get the season started with a bang! Hootie Quote
desmobob Posted March 16, 2016 Posted March 16, 2016 Excellent. That first fish of the year sparks a lot of excitement and hope about the coming season, doesn't it? Tight lines, Bob Quote
Super User DogBone_384 Posted March 16, 2016 Super User Posted March 16, 2016 Congratulations! I'm still waiting for my 1st bass on a jig. I caught a 1.5 # rainbow trout last fall on a 3/8 brown/craw jig, but that's it. Admittedly I've never used jigs much. It's on my list for '16. Keep at it! Quote
Hurricane Posted March 16, 2016 Posted March 16, 2016 Just started using jigs a lot more last year... Hooked now... Quote

For some reason, there's something special about catching your first few bass on a jig. I know when I did, all I wanted to throw was a jig for the next several times out! Tight lines, Bob 1 Quote
Verisimilidude Posted March 17, 2016 Author Posted March 17, 2016 I concur. That's all I've thrown this year so far Quote
Super User Darren. Posted March 17, 2016 Super User Posted March 17, 2016 Very nice bass! Congrats! My first bass on a jig was over 3 pounds, I weighed it, but don't remember specifically. Just that it was an incredible experience 1 Quote
jignfule Posted March 19, 2016 Posted March 19, 2016 Great start to the year. Keep throwing the jig. Quote
