Well as the title states, this is my first bass of the year.  Water temps still in the low 40s here.  I was able to get out on my lunch break today.

My guess is between 3-4 lbs.  My second ever jig bass, and now i'm hooked!

PS: Can anyone identify the jig?  Can't remember if this is a Siebert Outdoors product or not...Green pumpkin/teal

Nice fish, congrats dude!

I love jig fishing - I caught a 2-3 lb drum on one last weekend lol.

It was definitely on a pause, right after a small hop.

I didn't even feel a bite, the line just got heavy.

Excellent.  That first fish of the year sparks a lot of excitement and hope about the coming season, doesn't it?

Tight lines,

Congratulations!

I'm still waiting for my 1st bass on a jig.  I caught a 1.5 # rainbow trout last fall on a 3/8 brown/craw jig, but that's it.  Admittedly I've never used jigs much.  It's on my list for '16.

Keep at it!

For some reason, there's something special about catching your first few bass on a jig.  I know when I did, all I wanted to throw was a jig for the next several times out!

Tight lines,

Very nice bass! Congrats!

My first bass on a jig was over 3 pounds,
I weighed it, but don't remember specifically.
Just that it was an incredible experience :)
