You really can't go wrong either way. I have smaller hands so the Met palms better...except for the Core 50MG7. The Core 50 is my favorite Shimano that I own or have ever owned. If it were between the Met and Core 100 though, I would choose the Met. I just like smaller framed reels better.

Between the 2013 Metanium and Core 100, the  Metanium.  Between the Metanium and the Core 50?  That's tough, really depends on the application.  I might also add that I like the feel of my Scorpion 70 better than my Core 50.  Just have to get it on the water to see how it fishes...

I love both my cores, but I do like the my 50 better.  But I REALLY love my metaniums.  Tough call, IMO, you can't go wrong with either.

gotcha. will probably go with the Met. will probably be on the lolmokout for a core 50 size also tho as ive just started hmusing 50size shimanos and they fit my small hands really well

Me personally, I like the Core better than any reel made,  regardless of brand. I am also partial to a full size reel over the small framed reels. So, you can see it actually comes down to what suits you.

Do you have a Core 50MG  you would like to trade for a Core 100MG? I would rate mine better than new, but I just prefer the size of the 50.

The '13 Metanium is a known commodity...and a spectacular one at that.  I would scoop one up while they are still around to be had.

can the handle or knobs on the 13 Met be swapped to the bigger ones like on the new MGL?

I can not say for certain if the MGL handle would fit on a '13 Met (although I would bet mine it would), but there are plenty of high quality larger handles (carbon fiber or alloy) that will fit a '13 Met if not.

contacted shimano and asked if i would be able to put a Met MGL handle with the big power knobs onto a regular 13 Met and the response was no they are not interchangeable.  thought that was kinda weird.

I will believe it when I see it.
