Ghostshad Posted March 11, 2016 Posted March 11, 2016 Water temperature is in the low to mid 50,is that warm enough for the Squarebills ? Quote
Super User Fishes in trees Posted March 11, 2016 Super User Posted March 11, 2016 Shallow to semi-shallow water with woody/brushy cover - a square bill is always an option. IMO 1 Quote
Super User eyedabassman Posted March 11, 2016 Super User Posted March 11, 2016 Oh Yes it is a good time to fish them. They peak in water from high in the mid 40's to low 60's. that is a pretty good range for them. I like Wiggle Warts and Rock Crawlers. 1 Quote
Super User smalljaw67 Posted March 11, 2016 Super User Posted March 11, 2016 That is the perfect time for those!!!! 52 degrees to 60 degrees are prime temps for square bills. 1 Quote

Super User Spankey Posted March 11, 2016 Super User Posted March 11, 2016 Ghost, happy retirement enjoy it. Hope you have your best season this year. Good fishing. Quote
Super User ww2farmer Posted March 11, 2016 Super User Posted March 11, 2016 Yup............I switch to squarebills and soft jerkbaits, from lipless baits and suspending hard jerkbaits round about 50-52 degrees. Actually I will throw all four of them until the water is solidly in the high 50's/low 60's and then the squarebill/soft jerkbait combo really takes over. I will also fish a squarebill around wood no matter what the water temp is. Quote
Super User Cgolf Posted March 12, 2016 Super User Posted March 12, 2016 Yes and along with a subltle action Bandit 100, I have done well with the new last year Strike King shallow SB. They really seemed to like that bait with a slight pause. Quote
