David Whitaker Posted March 11, 2016 Posted March 11, 2016 I have used some of Dirty Jigs stuff in the past like their HP Flipping Jig but a lot of their newer stuff like the Canterbury flippin' jig and their normal Arkie-style flippin' jig looks amazing and would love some input as to if y'all have any experience with them and maybe even their football jigs. Love their color choices. Quote

Super User kickerfish1 Posted March 11, 2016 Super User Posted March 11, 2016 I like Dirty Jigs but not exclusively. They do offer a nice selection of colors, multi colored painted heads, and the no-jack hooks are incredible. However they are pretty costly unless you catch them on sale. I have some where around 70 Dirty Jigs but they only account for about 8% of what jigs I have. Hard to beat Siebert for price and options. He offers wire tie which many others don't and has great customer service. 1 Quote

Taylor Haberle Posted March 12, 2016 Posted March 12, 2016 Dirty Jigs are the bomb. Also a big fan of NorthStar jigs, and Sieberts are nice except not a big fan of their colors. Kind of boring and repetitive. Quote
TxHawgs Posted March 12, 2016 Posted March 12, 2016 Love the Dirty Jigs Canterbury and also throw the Northstar and M-Pack jigs as I fish Fork almost exclusively and rarely lose an M-Pack but he doesn't offer enough colors. Also Dirty Jigs offers more colors on his site. Quote

Taylor Haberle : There is some truth to what you say - however Seibert Jigs (Mike) will work with you if there is something special in the way of a skirt combination color you are looking for ... Mike made some custom swim jig colors for me the likes of which would BLOW YOU AWAY !! Dirty Jigs , Northstar , Bill Lowen Jigs can not touch what Mike is able to make if you communicate with him - absolutely nothing can touch what Mike made for me !! * They are still new and in the plastic bag and I just had a friend with a digital photo studio take pictures of them for me to send to Mike . If Mike gives me permission - I will post to this site with the color names . There is no doubt Mike could do the same for any other type of jig such as a pitching jig , brush jig or football jig by discussing skirt colors in terms of a % of each color strands you are looking for in the skirt color make up ... If you are patient and can work with Mike's production schedule you will NOT be disappointed !! Lastly here is food for thought : Do you know what a multicolor jig skirt combination looks like at depths greater than say 12 feet ? In all but the clearest water - colors begin to more represented as dark , medium and light shades . That is why for jigs used more on the bottom at depth I don't sweat it beyond having a black & blue jig skirt of some form of a Green Pumpkin blended skirt color (swim jigs used higher in the water column are a different story...) . Perhaps more important to think about things for football jigs such as over all jig bulk , profile , action and retrieve than stressing how many strands of orange color you have mixed in with a green pumpkin skirt . Then again I get that such things as a perfect jig color can instill angler confidence , so it's all good ! 2 Quote
wytstang Posted March 12, 2016 Posted March 12, 2016 Very happy with my Dirt jigs swim jigs, his skirts do not move at all. Quote

I love their spinnerbaits and their jigs with the wire finish seem to be the highest quality jigs in the price range. I'm sure he's extremely talented, I was just talking about their stock catalog. I tie my own jigs if I want a really unique color pattern so it's a bit of a nonissue. I realize this thread was discussing football and flipping jigs, but I should have prefaced I buy almost exclusively swim jigs. Especially on the clear lakes I fish, like you said, I become a real stickler on colors because I'm shallow swimming.. I'm a bit of an addict in finding the most realistic gill-patterned swim jigs, but it's really a confidence thing. So I more or less agree with everything you said but I'm coming from a different situation. I'd love to see his work though if it's possible. Regardless, Dirty Jigs is a pretty awesome company. Quote
Airman4754 Posted March 12, 2016 Posted March 12, 2016 I used to only use Dirty Jigs and still have a ton of their products. Now I have a small company make all of my football and casting jigs because he does an incredible job and I like tungsten heads. For swim jigs all I use are Dirty Jigs. Mods will push sponsors, fisherman will push what they've grown to like. You'll find a lot of fisherman back Dirty Jigs. Quote

Mind me asking what's the trailer in the third photo used on a few of 'em (namely bottom right)? Is that the Keitech Impact or the Lil Dipper in Sungill? It's a perfect match on the NS New Gill. I'm glad there's a few other nuts with this niche addiction. Quote
Super User kickerfish1 Posted March 13, 2016 Super User Posted March 13, 2016 Here is a run down of them all... Pic 3 (see below) Left #1 - Missle Baits Shockwave - Candy Gill Left #2 - RI Big Dipper - Sungill Left #3 - N/A Left #4 - Keitech 4.8 inch fat impact - Pro Staff Special Right #1 - Zoom horny toad - Watermelon Crawfish Right #2 - Can't recall this one but I believe it is a discontinued bait Right #3 - Keitech 3.8 inch fat impact - GP fire Right #4 - Keitech 3.8 inch fat impact - Sungill Pic 4 (see below) Here is a run down of them all... Pic 3 (see below) Left #1 - RI Little dipper - Sungill Left #2 - SK Rage Mennace grub - Honeycandy Left #3 - Missle baits Shockwave - Shrapnel Left #4 - N/A Right #1 - N/A Right #2 - Keitech Swing impact - Male perch (newer version carried by TW not the older one) Right #3 - SK Rage Mennace grub - Honeycandy Right #4 - SK Rage Mennace grub - Blue craw There are a good amount of options out there for bluegill trailers. I will use anything from a single tail grub, a menace grub, various paddle tail swimbaits both fat and slender, along with soft body frogs. The RI Sungill, SK Honeycandy, and the Keitech Pro staff special/sungill are among the better looking bluegill trailers that aren't your typical bluegill color that contains mostly grey/black/silver/blue flake. Curious what your gill swim jigs look like, mind posting a pic? I am going to pick up dome skirt material in May to tie up some jigs. Currently I have been using Santones sun perch for my gill imitation, Bass and Muskie seem to love it, so it is doing something right Quote

Once I get it in a few days I'll dig through my stuff to find a few. If I'm tying jigs though, it's usually only to make what can't be bought (very unusual). I find commercial gill patterns turn out better than mine realism wise. I know mine usually use watermelon blue with some yellow and a touch of orange. Think V&M's The Pulse Watermelon Bluegill (pictured below, not of my own work) but louder and brighter. 1 Quote
