Avalonjohn44 Posted March 10, 2016 Posted March 10, 2016 This little guy jumped right into the bank trying to escape something today. Don't recognize it. Any ideas? Its back was a lot more purple in real life... 1
Super User 00 mod Posted March 10, 2016 Super User Posted March 10, 2016 Sure looks like a bass to me! Jeff 6
Super User A-Jay Posted March 10, 2016 Super User Posted March 10, 2016 It's a bass only smaller ~ And if we're asked to guess the weight, I'm going to dig out my left eye with a ice cream scoop ! A-Jay 8
Avalonjohn44 Posted March 10, 2016 Author Posted March 10, 2016 It looks like a tiny bass, but I've never seen that coloration before.
Jake the Cake Posted March 10, 2016 Posted March 10, 2016 Looks like the Shiners we use here in the Ozarks/Midwest, but THAT much purple and those stripes down the fat part of the body make me think it's something else. Definitely has the outline/physique of a bass, just very very tiny.
mrmacwvu1 Posted March 10, 2016 Posted March 10, 2016 Hell that would be my personal best this season 8

flyingmonkie Posted March 11, 2016 Posted March 11, 2016 Hold it close enough to the camera and you might get a Minn Kota hat.
Super User everythingthatswims Posted March 11, 2016 Super User Posted March 11, 2016 Largemouth. He looks that way because the water is cold and muddy (or at least stained from the looks of the photo). Time to find what he was running from!

Turtle135 Posted March 11, 2016 Posted March 11, 2016 that is a largemouth bass since we are playing this game, make a guess on this one:
flyingmonkie Posted March 12, 2016 Posted March 12, 2016 Bluegill! I have a 120 gallon cattle trough on the side of the house - I net these out of drainage ditches and stick them in the tank to grow up. Great learning experience for my little girls. 1

Super User Paul Roberts Posted March 12, 2016 Super User Posted March 12, 2016 Wow. Neat coloration. It's a bass. I believe it's a largemouth. Morpology checks out. It doesn't appear to be a spot. Definitely not a smallmouth. I've never seen coloration like that -in a bass. Is this pond clear of aquatic vegetation? Any cover at all?

Is this Hellen Keller? That's a bass. I think the shape of the fish and the color is close. I have seen a lot of juvenile bass and never seen one colored anything like that. I agree that it is most likely a LMB. I made a guess and thought the object was to have a good time with it, not to take the opportunity to insult someone else. Anyway nothing lost either way.
