I know this reel just came out at the Classic but I'm wondering if anyone has been around to a tackle shop and has had a chance to hold it in hand and can share their impressions of the reel?  For $100 it looks sharp but might end up just being a cheap hunk of plastic with a nice finish.

I´m a diehard Shimano/Daiwa fan and for 100 bucks I would go around looking somewhere else in the Daiwa line-up of sub $100 reels it has, the Exceler is a fantastic reel.

I like the Exceler too. I don't mind graphite framed reels for light duty and spinning reels.............I have a bunch of Abu Black and Silver Max's,and Pflueger presidents, but I only paid $30 +$40 for them.....................at $100, no thanks.

Anything lower than the Citica, I'd go with something Daiwa. I might try the Casitas sometime, but probably not.

Considering a well bought Curado runs ~$140, I wonder what the street price of these will be.  If you can get into one for ~$65-$70 it could be a good value.

I got to compare the Caenan, Casitas, and Curado 70 side by side at the Classic. The Caenan and Casitas both look nice, fit in my hands well, and felt very tight (no slop). I'm not in need of a reel right now, but I liked them enough that I'd give them a try for the right price.
