What is the best drop shot rod? I would like to keep it under $150.

Fenwick Elite tech 6'10" ML XF or the SMB series. I do not own either of these rods I just asked your question on Google.

For under $150 I'd suggest a St. Croix Mojo Bass 6'10" ML/XF. I have the same rod in their LTB line and it's a heck of a dropshot setup.

I'll agree there.   I love St Croix's MLXF.  I've had the Avid, SCIV and SCV in 6'9" and the SCV 6'10".

What kind of drop shot fishing?   I have a few I use for "bubba" drop shot.   A Kistler Argon 7'5" heavy pitching stick is my current favorite.   More finesse?   My current fave for spinning applications is a 7'Mojo Medium with an extra fast tip.  I do the braid/long fluorocarbon leader on this rig.     Personal preference,  I don't like to go lighter than quarter ounce on the drop shot, mostly because drop shot is a bottom fishing thing and I don't want to wait for a lighter weight to get to the bottom.   Even with the spinning gear I fish 3/8 oz more often than the quarter oz.

I have  Loomis 6'10" drop shot bait casting rod that has been on the shelf for a couple of years.   When the Curado 7- I've ordered comes in, I'm going to fill it with 8 lb Abrazx and use it extensively this year - lighten up on the bubba shot kinda - we'll see - step A is that the Curado  has to show up.

I use a 6'10" Lew's drop shot Rod that I use for vertical drop shot.   I also use a 7ft 1in Powell Rod that I use for casting out and dragging the drop shot.   I recommend the Powell Maxx 3D 712.  St. Croix Mojo is a good choice.
