BIG M Posted December 21, 2010 Posted December 21, 2010 Tried my bluegill pattern over foil. The foil job was not my best work but I like both baits. Threw in a couple of extras just for fun. Quote
Super User Jigfishn10 Posted December 21, 2010 Super User Posted December 21, 2010 Very nice BIG M! Quote
whittler Posted December 21, 2010 Posted December 21, 2010 Without doubt some of your best looking baits. That little extra flash from the foil should just kill the bass. You da man. Quote
Super User deaknh03 Posted December 21, 2010 Super User Posted December 21, 2010 sweet looking cranks! Quote
fishingdanderson Posted December 21, 2010 Posted December 21, 2010 Are those transparent paints. I haven't seemed to get the right effect over foil. I've not tried clearing and maybe that is the problem. It looks drab when I paint over the foil but maybe if I went ahead and cleared it the shine would come through the drab paint over it. Is this likely? Quote
BIG M Posted December 21, 2010 Author Posted December 21, 2010 I have always clear coated the foil before painting. I have not tried painting on the foil. I like to clear coat first so I can wipe off my screw ups. Quote
Nibbles Posted December 22, 2010 Posted December 22, 2010 I'll take those foiled bluegills off your hands if you don't like 'em. Heck, I'll even throw in shipping. In all seriousness I think they look fine. I'm sure they'll catch plenty of fish. If I hadn't blown all my money on jig making supplies and shiny JDM reels I'd definitely order a couple of them from ya. Quote
fishingdanderson Posted December 22, 2010 Posted December 22, 2010 I always clear after the foil before painting also but I just have not painted and then tried to see if it shines through. It seems like it is really drab after I paint over the cleared foiled. I'll just have to try it. Quote
BIG M Posted December 24, 2010 Author Posted December 24, 2010 Use transparent paints and when you clear coat the foil will show under the paint. Quote
fishingdanderson Posted December 24, 2010 Posted December 24, 2010 Ok. I'll give it a shot. Thanks. I'll have to get some transparent. I don't have a lot of it. That'll give me a reason to get some. Quote

When you start shooting transparents you will find that the only opaque colors you will shoot will be white and black. They also shoot easier as well.....don't have to use reducer much. Quote
