primetime Posted March 7, 2016 Posted March 7, 2016 I just picked up a bunch of swimbaits I thought were speed shad at the flea market worm bar, and they measured 4.5 inches roughly, and i was confused....All same colors as pictured, they just came in and boxes were new so lucky me....I thought maybe bass pro made a 4.5 all of a sudden that smelled different. I guess they are 4,75 instead of 4.8, I cant tell all the brands apart anymore, I just buy the soft ones that are straight. Quote
Big Swimbait Posted March 9, 2016 Posted March 9, 2016 I spoke to Steve Parks at the Strike King booth at the Classic this past weekend. He had them on display. He said they were working on the print ads & ramping up production. He said the big boys like TW would get them first, probably this summer. To answer Heron's question, if you look closely at the pics, you will notice the ribs angle forward. The ribs have the Rage flange. Parks was very proud of that design aspect & said this swimmer will have action like no other, especially at slow speed. I look forward to them also. Quote
Super User ChrisD46 Posted March 9, 2016 Super User Posted March 9, 2016 I like Rage Tail - but Keitech has become the gold standard in the ribbed , fat swim bait of this type ... If Strike King hits us with some smell good colors : KVD Magic , Blue Gizzard , Green Gizzard and Pearl then I will try them ... Other wise , what's the compelling reason to switch from Keitech other than perhaps price ? *Will this be just another "good as a Senko" storyline ? 1 Quote

Their Rage Tail line is extremely successful due to their products offering a unique flange that gives off a ton of vibration/motion in the water. The Rage Tail line isn't known as a cold water product line. Before you say "Well Joe caught a pig in 40 degree water on a Rage Craw," I'm sure they work at times but as a whole, these aren't the first line of baits in most anglers mind when water is considered "cold". The boot tail design is becoming more and more popular and with Keitech basically being the cornerstone for soft swim baits, if the Rage Line can duplicate that success, they are only making their Rage Line that much more popular. This looks like it will be more of a "niche" bait much unlike their other baits that can be used in a variety of ways but I still expect this to produce and work very, very well. Regarding : "Rage Tail line not known as a cold water bait" - then what would be your cold water picks ? I subsribe to the belief that as with a a lipless crankbait with it's tight , subdued wiggle is a preferred crankbait in cold water , so I try to mimic the same action with soft plast trailers or swimbaits ...As the water warms I switch to a wider wobble crankbait and mimic the same action with soft plactic trailers or swimbaits . 1 Quote

Global Moderator Bluebasser86 Posted March 9, 2016 Global Moderator Posted March 9, 2016 I like the Rage craw in cold water because it slows the fall so much. Quote

I have high expectations from the Rage Tail line despite being part of Strike King. I am disappointed to find Fat Swing Impacts in a Rage Tail packaging. Quote
GetBent Posted April 20, 2016 Posted April 20, 2016 Yeah what are Chevy and dodge thinking. Ford made the first four door truck. Cant wait for these baits. My local shops don't carry keitech baits. I am also sure the rage swimmer will be a different density and other subtle differences. Quote

You would think that they would have protected the design if they could. Or is the patent easy to skirt, say if you use different material or change a very small detail. Not poking at anybody, just curious as to how that works. It seems the soft plastic game is largely a everyone coming out with their version of the same thing. 1 Quote
GetBent Posted April 20, 2016 Posted April 20, 2016 Cgrinder to be upfront about keitech baits I actually ordered some a week ago online. They look great and look forward to using them, but if I can pick up a lure locally I will go that route. Competition brings innovation and I look forward to that. Look at Senko baits and spinnerbaits. This practice has been going on a while. I'm sure it will mean better and more affordable things to come from both companies. Quote

Im just disappointed to see Imitation from a brand known for Innovation. I hope they will be cheaper than Keitch but they will probably be similar In price. I will edit this when I get home since apparently my phone hates BR. Quote
