Balshy Fishing Posted March 5, 2016 Posted March 5, 2016 So, how common is this? I spooled up once last summer and 4 days ago, I respooled. Even decided to try out my KVD Line Conditioner. Went to fish the next day, and it was coming off my line like phone cord. Casting distance was great but the curlyness was a little bothersome. Any suggestions? Quote
EvanT123 Posted March 5, 2016 Posted March 5, 2016 Baitcaster? spinning reel? spinning I would downsize line or upsize reel. Baitcasting, I don't know the coils never really bother me. Quote

0119 Posted March 6, 2016 Posted March 6, 2016 Mono? You spooled it last summer and in Penn. you probably haven't fished for much of the winter right? What reel size and what lb. test is the line? Its probably just time to re spool! Coming on to a year soon right? Quote
papajoe222 Posted March 6, 2016 Posted March 6, 2016 You said you just respooled. My guess is your reel was in the trunk of your car on the drive there and the outside temp. was somewhere in the 40's or lower. Cold temps will inhibit uncoiling. That is why ice fishermen use light line. Take the reel off your rod and bring it in the house for a while. Then go out and make a couple of casts. That could be what is happening. Quote
Kevin22 Posted March 6, 2016 Posted March 6, 2016 Did you spool it up backwards? Seige or elite? Seige is some stiff stuff, I wouldn't suggest it for spinning reels. Elite is much better for spinning reels, but its like fishing with a giant rubber band. Quote
