tje0705 Posted March 5, 2016 Posted March 5, 2016 So what are you guys go to early spring crankbaits? Tight wobble or wide wobble? Balsa or Plastic? Small or big? Just wanting to know what your guys thoughts are on this? Trying to get some ideas of some things I can try throwing this spring. Thanks guys. Quote
Super User Munkin Posted March 5, 2016 Super User Posted March 5, 2016 Shad raps for a tight wiggle is the norm but I have caught fish on a RC 1.5 square bill in 39 degree water in February. Try different baits until you find what works as bass do not read advice posted in fishing forums. Allen 1 Quote
Super User scaleface Posted March 5, 2016 Super User Posted March 5, 2016 I lke the Arbogast Mudbug fished as slow as I can stand it . 1 Quote
Wprich Posted March 5, 2016 Posted March 5, 2016 I like square bills(kvd 1.5 and arashi) and lipless cranks(rippin' rap and red eye shad) Quote
Super User Jrob78 Posted March 5, 2016 Super User Posted March 5, 2016 I generally like crankbaits with a tight action when it's cold. I fish a lot of flat sided baits, both plastic and balsa. As the water warms I fish a lot of sq bills, balsa and plastic. Quote
Super User A-Jay Posted March 5, 2016 Super User Posted March 5, 2016 This spring, if you're looking for something new, just a little different and super effective ~ Get yourself the 6th Sense Crush Flat 75X squarebill crankbait. It's going to really surprise you. A-Jay http://www.6thsenselures.com/#!crush-flat-75x/c1rev 6 Quote
PitchinJigz Posted March 5, 2016 Posted March 5, 2016 A flat sided mid depth crank is my favorite. 1 Quote

But hey I like what tje0705 said, " Try different baits until you find what works as bass do not read advice posted in fishing forums. " Quote

I was just saying that is what they look like, or seem to me to be a variation of. I'm sure they will catch fish as I love a good lip less crank and these are very similar just a lip difference. . papajoe222 Posted March 5, 2016 Posted March 5, 2016 My vote goes to a flat sided balsa bait 2-3in. in length. Quote
Airman4754 Posted March 5, 2016 Posted March 5, 2016 Shad Rap, lipless, and a square bill if the water gets dirty. Quote

Good Luck and I'd really like to know how you guys do with this bait. It's been Very Good for me ~ btw - there's another one I'll drop on you later this year after I have some more time with it - but it looks as good or perhaps even better. Nothing's magic but confidence make the trip so much better A-Jay 1 Quote

I need a few non balsa flat side cranks and these have been catching my eye. Quote

WdyCrankbait Posted March 5, 2016 Posted March 5, 2016 This lure is exactly what I have been looking for. My little John's catches fish for me, but seems to get out of tune after a number of fish. I like the tradition "squarebill," shape, but with a flat characteristic added in. Thanks A-Jay! 2 Quote

Super User Gundog Posted March 5, 2016 Super User Posted March 5, 2016 My personal favorite is a Norman Little N in Spring Craw. It runs about 4-6 ft. and in the spring we focus on rocks. On sunny days the clear water lake that I fish at allows sun to penetrate and hit the rocks. Bass hang out around rocks that radiate warmth. That crankbait dives at just the right depth to hit those rocks. Quote
Super User ww2farmer Posted March 5, 2016 Super User Posted March 5, 2016 Red Eye Shad lipless, KVD 1.5 squarebills, and Storm Wiggle Warts. Quote
