jbass Posted November 3, 2010 Posted November 3, 2010 I've been fooling around with PVC for a little while and its based on the Gladidator bait but this is hinged. The hinges are 1 1/4" ss eyes with 3/32" ss bearing stock for the pins. Quote
whittler Posted November 3, 2010 Posted November 3, 2010 Great looking swimmer, really looking forward to seeing it finished. Quote
NateFollmer Posted November 3, 2010 Posted November 3, 2010 I love this body design, looks very cool. Can't wait to see this with paint on it! Quote
Steven Ladner Posted November 3, 2010 Posted November 3, 2010 Great looking swimbait. Whats the length of it? Quote
Fishwhittler Posted November 3, 2010 Posted November 3, 2010 That's a very good-looking bait. I really like how you did the fins. 8-) Quote
Super User islandbass Posted November 3, 2010 Super User Posted November 3, 2010 It looks great! It looks ghostly. 8-) Where did you purchase the PVC? Quote
Fishwhittler Posted November 3, 2010 Posted November 3, 2010 islandbass, I just got my order from Vintage Woodworks. I used to get PVC from Menards, but I think I'm going to switch over to ordering from Vintage Woodworks. Their PVC doesn't have a plastic casing on it, which makes it much easier to work with. Make sure you get the trim board, not the deck board. The deck board has a woodgrain on one side which would decrease the useable thickness of the board. Hope this helps. Ben Quote
Super User islandbass Posted November 3, 2010 Super User Posted November 3, 2010 Thanks! I am seriously considering using this material, after I use up my balsa supply. Need some winter time projects anyway. Quote
jbass Posted November 4, 2010 Author Posted November 4, 2010 Thanks for the kind words; IB-The material is something that Whittler told me about. I picked it up at Home Depot. It's brick molding door trim. MD- It's about 7 inches long with a ballast of 7/8ths of an ounce. The line tie is stainless steel eyes like the hinges and the hook eyes are home made stainless steel wire twisted around a 8d finish nail. I don't have a clue as what to paint it just yet but I do like trout baits. I have a picture of a "Punker" type bait I made and painted with a trout pattern and I'll post that tomorrow. Quote
jbass Posted November 6, 2010 Author Posted November 6, 2010 Here's the "Punker type" I made and painted the trout pattern. Quote
NateFollmer Posted November 7, 2010 Posted November 7, 2010 Sweet! Looks awesome, love the paint job. Hows the other one coming? Quote
jbass Posted November 7, 2010 Author Posted November 7, 2010 Sweet! Looks awesome, love the paint job. Hows the other one coming? Nate, it's still sitting on the shop bench. I haven't decided what to paint it yet. My guess it will be a forage pattern we have around here, but not sure what just yet. Thanks for asking. Quote
Vooden Posted December 14, 2010 Posted December 14, 2010 What do you use to work it down after the rough cut, a dremel? By hand? Quote

I guess I like the trout pattern. It swims great and dives around 6 to 8 feet and "wakes" just great. Quote
