Which glasses work the best? Is there a difference between what you can see with a Walmart brand and what you can see with Maui Jim's or other glasses more expensive? What do you consider the best, and how far can you see with them underwater. Does the price really mean better quality?

There is a big difference between glasses. A cheap lens is like looking through a kaleidoscope to me.

Buying cheap eye protection and expensive tackle is a good sign of someone that's a few cans short of a sixpack.

If you ask 90% of optometrists they will tell you that for fishing or watersports that "Revo H20" sunglasses (prescription or not) are the very best in the World. Super light hand made Italian Titanium frames and 100% UV protection polorized lenses that are a step above all others.

Oakley has some lenses that are called Fire Iridium.  They are an orange lense, but they bring out the greens. I can wear them from sun up to sundown, and in cloudy conditions.  They are very versatile lenses and Oakleys are very quality sunglasses.

if your interested in buying something cheap and stylish i just bought a pair of polarized glasses on  ebay they're called "X LOOP" check em out i paid 13 with s&h they look better than most of the glasses ive found

It is funny, I won't hesitate to spend $20 - 30 bucks on a megabass lure, but I refuse to pay a lot for my sunglasses.  My brother has an expensive pair of polorized ray-bans, and had some oakleys before he lost those in the water.  I have used both sets of his $120+ glasses and they are not better than my $22 - $25 Woo Davies polarized sunglasses from Bass Pro Shops.  These are the best glasses I have ever used, and look very cool too.

The cheap Wally World glasses don't give your eyes the UV protection that a good pair gives. Polarizing is a glare reducer not a UV eliminator. Do your eyes  a favor now so you will see later get a good pair.

Any options for eyeglass wearers?  I've been using a cheap pair of clip ons I got at Dicks I can tell they're really polarized because they work the same as my circular polarizer for my camera, when I tilt my head the reflections on the water reappear.

Only problem is I have no insurance for my eyewear.  I'd love the costa del mar prescription lenses, but I'm poor.  Lower budget than even you LBH

Lower budget?  I doubt that bud,....the only reason I have the shades I do is because Calcutta gave them to me,lmao.

Even at that, of the ones I was given, my favorites retail for $16  ;D

For low end money, I highly recommend Calcutta.  Even if I hadn't been given these, I would buy them because I trash everything, ESPECIALLY shades and these few pair I use have held up quite well for a $16 product.  (I tend to lose quite a few pairs of shades too.

I definitely hear your cry though, adding prescription to any pair of shades brings things to a whole new price group.

I wear a pair of plorized fit-overs that I got at walmart.  I think they were like 30 bucks. They fit pretty well over my glasses, but Im not sure how UV resistant they are.  They also look ridiculus.  :-[

I wear costa del mar hammerheads w/ green mirror wave 580 lenses, retail $239 or something.

I tell everyone the same thing, good sunglasses are just as important as any rod/reel combo.  There are Costas to be had for $119+, your eyes will thank you for the purchase later in life.

Given that you don't lose or break them, they will be the last pair of sunglasses you ever buy.

I just got a set of prescription costa del mars.  I had them put Anti-Reflection on the back of the lens.  What a difference.  They have a 2 year warranty.  They will give you new lens for 30 dollars if you scratch them up.  Frame replacement is free.

Best set of glasses I have tried.  The Anti-Reflection I think is the hot ticket.
