I just bought a mojo bass 6'10 dropshot rod and now I need a reel to match. I will primarily be using this rod for dropshotting but every once in a while I will be using it for other techniques. I am looking for a reel to match for about $80. Any suggestions you have on type of line and line size would be helpful but I am assuming im going to run 8lb test on it.

Maybe a 2000/2500 Shimano Sahara or Symmetry. Maybe a President. Too many out there. Take your rod to a guy that has a lot of reels and get something that balances good.

Pflueger President Limited Edition, or any Pflueger for that matter. I got the Limited and the Supreme XT and can't tell much difference in either.

The pflueger president is a really good reel for the money. Smooth, well built, and you will still have some money left over from your 80 dollar limit!

Okuma RTX 25S  $75 online

It's light and performs very well. We float the river for smallies about 3x a month and I easily catch 30-40 fish on each trip. It's been dunked a handful of times and still hasn't missed a beat. River smallies will really test out your drag too. The reel is over 2yrs old now. Still works great.

I just got a Pflueger President Limited Edition for $80 at Bass Pro Shops and can't wait for fishing season to start!!! The reel looks beautiful and seems very smooth, it's also neat knowing that this particular reel was only made for 2016 and once it's sold out it's gone.

You really want to handle the reels in a store in order
to get a sense of how they feel in your hands.

Years ago I had completely decided to go the President
route based on the numerous excellent reviews on the
product(s). And there's no doubt they're excellent reels.

However, in my hands, I didn't like how they felt, reeled,
etc. Completely subjective. I tried a similar sized Shimano,
Quantum, Daiwa, Abu, etc. The best *feeling* and reeling
to me were Shimano.

So like it's been said, if you can take your rod in to a store
and try several different brands on it, choose the one you
feel fits you best.

It was Shimano for me, but you may feel some other brand
fits your style better.

Pflueger President. Or you can get the Supreme and get a mail in $20 rebate right now.  Best reel for the money. Imo

+1 for supreme.  25 or 30 size, whichever feels better to you

I am a shimano spinning reel fan, I like the spool design better than my pfluegers. I've used all mentioned here, owned most of them.

If I had $80 right now I would buy a shimano sedona and a spool of 832/PP slick 8 braid.
