No, but it will still shimmy. And a 6" will have greater shimmy than the 5. So it's all relative to the bait. I catch a ton of bass wacky rigged on a 4" senko. As I've said in other posts, wacky is my primary style, and for me, it's been very successful. But for others, 5" worms perform better. Go figure. 35 minutes ago, DumBassFishin said: I always Texas rig does that make any difference? Not really. If you've never wacky rigged, you really oughta try it! 1 Quote
DumBassFishin Posted March 4, 2016 Author Posted March 4, 2016 I have done wacky but i did not see my results go up and i kept getting snagged and those Gamas are a buck a hook! Fishing from the bank means im usually fishing some kind of cover Quote

I buy bulk Gamakatsu Splitshot/Dropshot hooks 25 for about $13, or if you buy online, cheaper unless you end up paying shipping. I like 1/0 and I tie on my own weedless wire and it really does help a lot. Quote

I put a 4" on a drop shot wacky rig and didn't like the action as much as the 5". Could just be the brand, YUM Dinger. It felt stiff. I couldn't find any other 4" brands in stores. Quote

Specifically, GYCB Senkos, and BPS Stik-Os. The latter of which have a nice shimmy at 4", at least to me. 1 Quote
HeavyTwenty Posted March 4, 2016 Posted March 4, 2016 I bought some BPS Stik-Os during the sale and they're now my favorite stick bait. 90-95% performance of the original senko at 1/3rd the cost when purchased on sale. 1 Quote

I mainly fish them, too. I only have some GYCB Senkos for a specific color. The rest are Stik-Os! Quote
JT Bagwell Posted March 9, 2016 Posted March 9, 2016 I "mostly" use 5" and 7" Senkos. There are times where I will use other sizes but the majority of the time 5" and 7" are my go to sizes. Quote
RB 77 Posted March 9, 2016 Posted March 9, 2016 It might behoove you to carry both. As far as fishing stained water the Green Pumpkin and Black might work better, but of course we always have to have a Watermelon right? Purple for me too! Haha. Quote

Yep. I think a weightless wacky rigged 5" Senko is a better choice than 4" most of the time. I also like that the larger ones perform better when a little weight is added. As A-Jay said bigger is sometimes better. I rarely use a Senko t-rigged. There are many other plastics that I have more confidence in. Differences in profile can matter. I would keep some of each on hand. 2 Quote
Super User WIGuide Posted March 9, 2016 Super User Posted March 9, 2016 I'm not entirely sure how I started it or why, but I almost always wacky rig my 4" stick baits and T-rig my 5's. I always have one of each on deck and depending on the day one of the two usually work. My dad (who is also my tournament partner) uses 5's exclusively for both. I honestly haven't really noticed a big difference in catch rate. As for colors for off colored water, something like mardi gras, black & blue, or black and purple get my first nod. Quote
D3r3km Posted September 5, 2021 Posted September 5, 2021 another thing to think about is how the weight and line are also going to effect the drop rate of the senko, you can use a 4" and put a 3/0 thin gauge hook on it and then use a 5" senko with a 4/0 heavy wire hoke and may get the same rate of fall. I think the senko shines when the rate of fall has that slow magic wiggling effect. so play around with both but i like the good old 5" the effect on it is better then the other imo. Quote
Super User king fisher Posted September 5, 2021 Super User Posted September 5, 2021 I use the 7 inch only because they don’t make an 8 inch. 1 Quote
Super User Darth-Baiter Posted September 5, 2021 Super User Posted September 5, 2021 7” Senkos. Yanamotos? I have 6” and I’m fishless with them. 4” and 5” for me. Quote
Super User TOXIC Posted September 5, 2021 Super User Posted September 5, 2021 Nice one to pull up out of the archives!?. Personally, I neve used to throw anything but the 5 inch Senkos but with the Ned rig becoming one of my standard baits, I will throw the 4 inch (and 3 inch) when I want a little more bulk and less length than a Yamamoto Cali Roll. Threw them a lot on St Clair this year on beds when I couldn’t see the bass. Quote

Super User Boomstick Posted September 5, 2021 Super User Posted September 5, 2021 I use 4" senkos when I'm targeting strictly smallmouth. You can also get rock bass on a 4" senko. If I'm targeting largemouth or a combination of largemouth and smallmouth, I usually stick to 5" senkos. Quote
ironbjorn Posted September 5, 2021 Posted September 5, 2021 5" Senko = weightless texas rigged on casting gear 4" Senko = weightless wacky rigged on spinning gear That's how I usually do it. Works for me. Quote

volzfan59 Posted September 5, 2021 Posted September 5, 2021 Maybe it's just a confidence thing, but I seem to do much better using a 4" green pumpkin senko. For me, during the spawn I like white. Other than that, it's green pumpkin the majority of the time, black occasionally. Quote
Super User N Florida Mike Posted September 5, 2021 Super User Posted September 5, 2021 I catch more fish on the 4. Bigger fish on the 5 . Quote
Tatsu Dave Posted September 6, 2021 Posted September 6, 2021 I like 5" stickbaits the best, don't matter if they are senko-trickstick-snakeo'-ocho-or tornado. If a bass can't handle it.....let em' grow ? Wacky or texas rig don't matter what ever they show me they want. Good Thread! lot of different ways to stickbait a bass. For movement on the fall senko and snake o' are the best for the seductive tail wiggle. Quote
