Super User S Hovanec Posted March 2, 2016 Super User Posted March 2, 2016 Been kinda lazy all winter. Now I have to go into full production mode to play catch-up! Starting off with a couple simple spinning builds. I have 2 Sage Ones in the queue. They will be a little more complicated than these. Rainshadow SB720-4 (4pc lite) RodGeeks B468MMF 6 Quote

Delaware Valley Tackle Posted March 3, 2016 Posted March 3, 2016 I like the white finish but man you have keep stuff clean. Quote

I've found white blanks to be the toughest to build. From showing every speck of dust to needing to be absolutely perfect on the wraps. Dark blanks hide gaps. Quote
Hogsticker Posted March 3, 2016 Posted March 3, 2016 What butt cap and trim piece is that on the Rodgeeks and where can I find it?? Quote

That's kinda what I thought but it looks better in your pics than it does on the Web site. I have that trim ring on several builds in various colors. I was kinda hoping the rubber cap had some kind of cool insignia inside it. Thx Quote

Take my money, please!! 33 minutes ago, Hogsticker said: I was kinda hoping the rubber cap had some kind of cool insignia inside it. Thx It just has a black resin covered sticker. I'm sure it could be peeled off the aluminum backer and something else could be inlayed in it. I haven't tried it yet. Quote
faygo1979 Posted March 3, 2016 Posted March 3, 2016 I have to ask, how do those slid locks work on the rainshadow rod? I have seen you post them before But i would think that the reel would fall out often? Quote

I turn the cork so the rings are a little snug when installed, unlike factory rods, where they slide loosely. I have never had a reel come loose while using them. Quote
Delaware Valley Tackle Posted March 4, 2016 Posted March 4, 2016 I had a pair of rings on a carbon tube TN handle, no problems. I've seen some factory ones that were a little loose like Scott said. Quote
Super User S Hovanec Posted March 4, 2016 Author Super User Posted March 4, 2016 IMO, the people that say they don't like the rings cause the reel falls off have never had a grip with them fit properly. Quote
Lucky Craft Man Posted March 5, 2016 Posted March 5, 2016 Nice work as always Scott! The owner of that Rainshadow is a lucky man and the owner of one of those Sage One customs you are going to do is really a lucky man. The only thing that would make him even luckier is if he had a NRX modification done to his 4wt. ? Quote
