Hello all,

Okay, my wife and I just recently purchased a Pflueger President Limited Edition and a Lady President both is size 35, we originally were going to get size 30's but Bass Pro was out of them so we went with 35's. my question is which would be the best, most versatile size for both trout and bass fishing? Both of these reels will be going on Abu Garcia Vengeance 7ft. MH/F rods. I'd like to get a consensus so if I need to call Bass Pro corporate and see if we can swap the reels if need be. Thanks for your input!!!

I struggled with this too when I first bought Pflueger spinning reels. 30 was small and 35 seemed too large. I put a size 35 on anything over 7' and anything 6'-6" - 6'-10" I would match with a size 30. Hope this helps.

Well, sort of...you said a size 35 on over 7ft. and a size 30 on anything 6'6" - 6'10" but you didn't say which way you'd go with a rod that is 7ft. :).

I'm currently using a 2500 on a 7ft. Med./Fast rod for both trout and bass.  I like the smaller size and lighter weight. It's spooled with 20lb. braid and has a leader of 8lb. Yo-Zuri.

I feel a 35 is a bit too large for trout.
