(='_'=) Posted March 1, 2016 Posted March 1, 2016 hey, as the title says, i have a humminbird 587 ci hd. a couple weeks ago i decided to mark a dangerous tree that is submerged some time of the year but now is about 1.5 feet above the water, so it was a goo time for marking it. so i drove to it, and marked the waypoint. i had no problem setting the waypoint itself, nor the icon, however, i couldnt see the NAME characters. if i scrolled left or right i could move along the characters, and with the up and down arrows i could change them. doing this i managed to write the name, however, i had to estimate what i was writing. this is a pic of how it looked, taken at home as it was taking too long so i just marked the spot and then i named it at home. to see what i wrote i had to move to the left until i was out of the box where you put the name. when i highlight the option NAME, i would see what i had written. but when i scrolled to the right to move the letters, all i could see was the white box. any idea how to fix that so im able to see what letter im changing?? thanx!! Super User Wayne P. Posted March 2, 2016 Super User Posted March 2, 2016 Why were you creating a Group of waypoints when trying to edit a waypoint? That is two different things. Quote

That is two different things. i also created a group of waypoints for the lake, im not sure if its the correct way of doing it, but i created a group to mark all the points on that lake... and anyways, the problem of the unit not displaying the letters is in both cases as you can see in the pics... Super User Wayne P. Posted March 2, 2016 Super User Posted March 2, 2016 I see nothing unusual with the edit waypoint view, no letters are set to be changed. A block is put around the letter that can be changed. You have already edited that waypoint. I cannot tell what is going on in the group view. Take a screen shot with the unit, not with a camera. Super User Wayne P. Posted March 2, 2016 Super User Posted March 2, 2016 BTW, does your unit have current operating software? Quote

Super User Wayne P. Posted March 3, 2016 Super User Posted March 3, 2016 A screen shot shows what the unit is showing, a camera doesn't. To take a screen shot, put a blank SD card in the unit (32 GB max). Turn on Snapshot in the unit accessory menu, and push the MARK button. The unit software version is shown in the SYSTEM STATUS view. Register the unit on the Humminbird website to create an account that Humminbird puts current unit software and HumminbirdPC computer software for waypoint management. You can do on you PC what you are trying to do with the unit. 1 Quote
