Hey everyone, I am looking for some good bass ponds to bank fish in the coming months. Been out of fishing for a little while but looking to get back on board. I am looking specifically in the area around Glassboro but anything in South Jersey is fine. I have been looking around google maps and have been slightly able to discern good bank fishing access. However, just wanted to make a quick post to get some insight. Any info would be much appreciated!  Also, any tips on what kind of cover or recommendations on how to fish them would be awesome! Thank you.

The tough part about south jersey is finding ponds that aren't pickerel only. I mostly fish the 3 lakes at Assunpink and Colliers Mills

Unfortunately you just have to get out there bc google maps can only tell you so much.  I have 10+ spots in SNJ.  One thing I can recommend is pick a place but have 1-2 back up plans.  I can't tell you how many times I went to fish a spot and it was posted no trespassing or it didn't have shore access.  Just move to plan B.  I got denied at 3 new spots one day so I just headed to a spot I knew I could fish. SNJ is a huge watershed area so it won't be hard to find places

Thanks for your response, I appreciate it. I will be getting out there and physically trying because that really is the only way. Thanks again!

I'm not sure what ur living situation is but if at all possible i would highly recommend a kayak.  no more trekking thru swamps, ticks, snakes, prickers, leeches, and don't get me starting on losing money to snagged lures.  with a kayak a whole new world opens up and access to endless shoreline.  less money, less frustration and more fish=good stuff. they will be going on sale at basically every store from now till memorial day.  a yak will change ur fishing life:D

I know! Seriously, I have been wanting one for while. So much water around and I always think "Man if I had a kayak I could cover so much more". Will certainly be keeping that in mind! Thanks again

(Edit) Real quick, what yak do you have and do you have any recommendations for someone with a pretty tight budget? I don't know much about yaks, but say $400-$600? Is that too low?

I have both a sit in kayak and a sit on top (SOT)...and a canoe w/ trolling motor.

i started out with a sit in yak.  it's easy to splash in a yak and i like to be completely dry in March and November/December.  and when I drop things they fall in the yak instead of plopping overboard.

I bought a SOT yak in December but i haven't had it out yet.  i bought foam golf balls at Walmart to plug the holes so it's a dry yak in cold water.

no matter which you choose i'd highly recommend focusing on the seat.  i like to recline the seat all the way and have it resting against the frame of the yak.  seats have straps to pull tight and sit upright but they seem to work their way loose every 30 mins.  plus certain seats crack if you put too much pressure on them.  I specifically bought the perception access 115 at dick's b/c it has a molded seat rest.  it feels great on my back.  and i'm experienced enough that I won't be losing equipment overboard.

honestly you'll be beyond happy with whatever you choose just b/c you'll be off the bank.  buy on sale and get a season or two out of it. you'll meet other anglers and get to try their yaks.  and test more in stores as sales roll around.  you'll always be able to sell and recoup most of your money when you upgrade .

sign up for DSG email and you'll get a 10% coupon.  look at yaks in the store but buy it online to apply discount, and select 'pick up in store'.

Regardless of what your budget is you should get a boat that's comfortable for you. As stated above, DSG is a nice place to get a yak (go during a sale like this week and use a 10% off coupon). Depending on which store you go to you will have a different selection. In that budget I would personally recommend the Eagle Talon but without knowing any particulars about you this is a moot point. I do work at the store in Philly. With that said though I would recommend you go to an actual kayak shop (The Kayak Fishing Store in Wildwood comes to mind) and try to paddle a couple of kayaks before you buy one. There's only so much you can learn on the showroom floor of a big box store.

I know this thread is about 2 years old , Just getting back into fishing bought a bunch of new gear. Wanting to fish other places other then the Manasquan Reservoir. I don't have a boat so it will be from the docks and banks. Looking for some good spots in Monmouth and northern Ocean Counties to fish.

Any good ponds near Voorhees? I don’t have a boat so I need to fish from shore.

Laurel Acres Lake, that’s where I go when I visit the in-laws. Also there’s a lake/creek across Moorestown Mall that I’ve seen people fishing at. Looked like a good body of water.

I’ve been to Laurel Acres a handful of times but haven’t caught anything sizable because it so pressured. I like the lakes by Birchfield way better. It’s right next to Laurel Acres but the fish are all big and it’s not the pressured.

are you guys talking about the park laurel acres or the place above it?

I'm talking about the one off Laurel Acres Park Drive, it has a playground next to it that my kids love to play at, and I can bank fish and watch them at the same time:  https://goo.gl/maps/GzEsPw2Ay5G2

I think the one @SnailsYeast is talking about is 3 private lakes off Birchfield Dr, but it looks to be private property.

@Junger those rules are never enforced there and at times can produce 6lbers+.

Yea I’ve caught multiple 4+ pounders at birchfield. Night fishing there is really productive
