dam0007 Posted February 28, 2016 Posted February 28, 2016 Hey guys, Any of you guys buy this Rod? I read it's full length Eva grip but the photo on the website shows split grip cork... If it's like the other swimbait rods they make it will have exposed threads which I would not want. But if it's like the rest of the Fury line I'm buying it. Thanks if if anyone can clear this up for me. I could give them a call tomorrow but was about to order it today. Lol Quote
DirtyDeuceGoose Posted February 28, 2016 Posted February 28, 2016 Check it out on TW and see what you think about the exposed threads. They've got a picture of the grip. Quote

DirtyDeuceGoose Posted February 28, 2016 Posted February 28, 2016 The 795 shows the EVA model. Exposed threads above the locking but transitioning to an EVA foregrip Quote

DirtyDeuceGoose Posted February 28, 2016 Posted February 28, 2016 I would venture to guess that using foam for a handle that long is both cheaper and easier for them to produce. Quote

Global Moderator Bluebasser86 Posted February 29, 2016 Global Moderator Posted February 29, 2016 I bought one, and really like it so far. I'm one of those weirdos that likes the foam handles though. It launches baits in the 1-3 ounce range a mile though. 1 Quote

Yes, again, it must be easier/cheaper than using cork. Or maybe that's just how they want to roll on their swimbait rods. Has nothing to do with what series it is. Quote

I think they're like nautical miles but with more Copenhagen. 2 Quote

Grantman83 Posted March 1, 2016 Posted March 1, 2016 If I recall, Gary claimed the majority of guys who had input preferred Eva because they claim it is more sensitive for this technique. I don't think cork cost is the issue since all the all lines have cork in them. Seems like he would have Eva on just this line of rods as opposed to these. I just got the fury swimbait rod and I'm digging it so far 1 Quote
Super User fishballer06 Posted March 1, 2016 Super User Posted March 1, 2016 I have this rod and yes, it is EVA all the way on the butt. Quote
stkbassn Posted March 13, 2016 Posted March 13, 2016 Just a follow up now that I was able to get out and try this rod on Friday. I only threw a couple of baits, my Roman Made Negotiator and my Roman Trick Lipless. All I can say is this rod is absolutely ideal for these two baits. 2-3 oz . I wasn't able to get a bite so didnt fight any fish but really enjoyed throwing the baits on that rod. I have it paired with a Toro 50 HS . The reel is fantastic as well. This is a great glide bait set-up. I can't wait to get out with it again. Also wanted to mention I like the handle length and really like the eva grip. Its very comfortable to use for hours. So far the Fury 795 is a winner folks. Good luck on the water. 2 Quote
Global Moderator Bluebasser86 Posted March 14, 2016 Global Moderator Posted March 14, 2016 I also got to use mine to fling an A rig around during the Classic weekend. It handled it great and I DID get to fight a few fish on mine I agree with stk, this is going to be a great stick for the 1-3 ounce baits and rigs. 2 Quote
