CCP Posted November 29, 2010 Posted November 29, 2010 A friend/customer of mine that I had painted some big M shallow divers for were fishing a local lake this past week. He makes a long cast to a point and hooked up with a BIG fish. I thought at first he had hooked a good smallmouth but, it turned out to be a 16lb rockfish. The fish made several good runs and stripped alot of drag from his Curado but we finally got him to the boat after 20 minutes. The fish pulled the front split ring/hook completely off the bait, and almost did the same to the rear hook. The bait was completely unharmed or altered. Hook hangers were still perfect. Alot of your balsa baits are very fragile but, Marty's baits seem to be as durable as my plastic baits. Get a few of his baits and give them a try. Quote
zbass Posted November 30, 2010 Posted November 30, 2010 Yeah CCP. I have a few of Marty's baits also and they are definately top notch! Nice story. Quote
BIG M Posted November 30, 2010 Posted November 30, 2010 First what is a rock fish? Thanks for the cool story, 52" muskie, 48" pike, 22lb bull red, 25lb fresh water drum, and now a 16lb rock fish. These are the biggest fish caught on my baits so far. Balsa baits are not weak if you build them right. Quote
CCP Posted November 30, 2010 Author Posted November 30, 2010 Marty this is a generic pic of a rockfish.... Quote
nanticoke Posted November 30, 2010 Posted November 30, 2010 Marty, Rockfish Is Chesapeake Bay lingo for striped bass. I need to get another order in to you soon, then try to add to your big fish list (quite a list of pigs). Quote
Fishwhittler Posted November 30, 2010 Posted November 30, 2010 I caught a 13 1/2" crappie on one of Big M's baits. Quote
