Between the Stradic Ci4+ and the new Stradic FK, which would you choose and why? I dont know which is the better reel.

The Ci4 has Ci4 and the FJ has Hagane... tough decision.

I know the differences in constructions, but which has the better internals? I watched and read some reviews and while everyone raved about the new FK, some things left me concerned like the drag washer wearing way too quickly and the spool shaft not having a bearing.

Your comparing a Cadillac and a Lexus. It would probably be 60-40 CI4 over FJ but you're talking about 2 solid reels. Can't go wrong with either. I have FJ's from 10 years ago that perform flawless. I can't comment to the CI4 as I have never owned one. Hear great things about them though.

You have Stradic FJ's from 10 years ago? They came out last year, lol.

Not sure about 10 years, but the Stradic FJ has been around for a few years, def not a new thing.

Personally, I like both, bought two FJs last year,
and like how they weight-balance with the rods
I have them on.

Knowing the CI4+ is lighter, the balance may be off
for the rods I have. Not sure by how much. But lighter
*is* better in my book for repetitive fishing, long days
on the water...

2 cents...

Maybe it was the version before that. I don't know it looks the same.

my mistake it was the FH that was released in 2003.

I have both and I would say definitely look at the new fk in person before you order it. I like it but it doesn't feel as solid or refined as the ci4+ and fj's. It just looks and feels cheap in my opinion.

What about it looks and feels cheap?

The handle, knob, plastic spool insert and drag knob, the machining on the spool itself etc... everything about looks and feels cheap to me compared to the previous model stradics.

Well, that sucks. Gonna have to look at it in person before I decide. Thanks
