cottny27 Posted February 26, 2016 Posted February 26, 2016 Bought this online for $45. The gray color on the front plate and thumbar was cheap looking and seems like it would tarnish with contact. I'm happy with the results. Krylon Fusion for plastic did the trick! I'll do the thumbar next. Not a perfect match, but it matches with the drag star 2 Quote
Bruce424 Posted February 26, 2016 Posted February 26, 2016 Nice! That's what I was think of doin to my revos. I don't like the metal look where the line pawl is. It does tarnish easy. Quote

primetime Posted March 4, 2016 Posted March 4, 2016 your reel just won an Icast Award and also ranked number 1 in Bass Fishin Magazine, and In Fisherman magazine on Long Island did a review on all their stuff....They sell Abu and Daiwa as well, 4 guys from Syracuse NY started that company 2 years ago...all those specs are 100% legit...Compare to higher end reels...My brother is a guide on Long Island For Stripers and he was given one as a sample since Eposeidon has been everywhere pushing their stuff...Their $30 5000 series spinning reel was as smooth and lighter than my Penn or Quantum PT Blu....I plan oon buying their new rods and a few casting reels after doing my homework, I bet it feels familiar and light...Nice purchase, enjoy, they honor warranties as well, good honest people bringing jobs to America...How rare... Lots of haters when it comes to this reel. Looks like the are sold out everywhere. It doesn't function like a $45 reel is all I can say at this point. I have little time on the water with it, but so far I am impressed. I emailed the company and they were quick to respond and very friendly. 1 Quote
Super User burrows Posted March 5, 2016 Super User Posted March 5, 2016 Looks a lot better now, I always wanted to try one but I don't like the cheapy looking cosmetics I wish they would change their logo to I know I know reels are for fishing not for a fashion show. Quote

I agree with you that's the 1st thing I noticed right out of the box. They skimped on the plastic. Their logo does look cheap. No parts for it yet. I tried ordering a couple handles and they said give it time and they will be available. Quote

I took the reel out again today for about an hour. Tossed a 1/2oz square bill in light wind. It performed flawlessly. I'm starting to believe that I got a great deal. It performs like any $100+ reel. paul. Posted March 10, 2016 Posted March 10, 2016 plz keep us posted on how this performs. also would like to hear other feedback on these kastking products. very impressed w/ what i have heard and seen online so far - esp. the stealth. hard to believe getting a reel with carbon fiber components for less than 50 bux. i am a "cheap reel" guy. that doesn't mean i want junk. i just want good reels at a fair price. and based on what i've heard so far, kast king fits that description.
